Summary0004050: The sounds of ZandroSpree_Halo3_r4.pk3 do not play in a 3.2 server, but do play in singleplayer.
DescriptionThe Halo 3 edition of ZandroSpree (ZandroSpree_Halo3_r4.pk3) doesn't play its sounds when used on a Zandronum 3.2 server, but plays them fine offline in singleplayer. The sounds have also worked previously in 3.1, both offline and online.
Steps To ReproduceStart a deathmatch server in Zan 3.2 which has ZandroSpree_Halo3_r4.pk3 loaded.
Add bots and frag them until you get multikill/spree announcements.
Additional InformationStandard ZandroSpree (ZandroSpree2RC2.pk3) does not seem to have this problem, despite its scripts being identical in execution to the Halo 3 ZandroSpree.

Additionally, when adjusting the announcer volume in either ZandroSpree, and either in 3.1 or 3.2, Zandronum tells in the console that certain variables of the mods are "unsafe commands". However, the volume still gets adjusted and both ZandroSprees still function fine afterwards.

I couldn't reproduce the sound issue in an online game with 3.2-alpha-r220904-2011, both on my local Windows server and an Euroboros (Linux) server that was hosting the same build and file. Fragging a couple of bots in quick succession on both servers would display and play the announcer messages (e.g. "Double Kill", "Triple Kill", "Killing Spree", "Killimanjaro", etc.) properly for me.

Just to clarify, you can still see the announcement messages, but can't hear them? Also, what is the value of the "zaspree_quiet" CVar for you? That CVar is what's used to control the volume of the sounds.

On the other hand, I can reproduce the "unsafe command" error that happens when you execute the aliases that control the announcer volume. Though, I would suggest that the mod be updated to include its own menu in MENUDEF that features a slider from which the user can adjust the volume of the ZandroSpree announcer manually, similar to the slider in the sound options menu that controls the volume of Zandronum's built-in announcer.

I'm closing this ticket, as restarting Zandronum with a new .ini file fixed the problem for Kaapeli. This doesn't appear to be an issue with Zandronum itself, so no change is required.
