Summary0000233: Terminator... Thing gets stuck out of play area
DescriptionWhat I mean is, with maps that have areas where its just slime, the Terminator will get stuck down there.. in maps such as mega5.wad map10. It should have a flag just like the one "Flag returns after awhile" or whatever its called...

I guess this was never brought up as not many people play Terminator.
Steps To Reproduce1. Grab Terminator.
2. Run off the side of mega5.wad map10.
3. Wait to die, or kill self
4. ???
5. Terminator is normal Dm
Additional InformationNot sure why there was never a flag to do this but.. looks like it needs one heh.

I'm not sure if the Terminator uses DM starts to spawn or not.

I can confirm this. I was playing the same match.
Also, iirc on the 2nd map, the Terminator sphere never spawned thus making it just a normal DM.

Now would be a good time to mention that the possession stone can easily be dropped in an unobtainable place depending on the map. Could also use an automatic return.

I found another issue. If a player disconnects from the server while carrying the hellstone/terminator sphere, the hellstone/terminator sphere disappears with the player.

I think the best option is a 30 second period (which also fits standard item respawn timings) which then, if the hellstone or terminator sphere is not touched, results in moving (or respawning if nonexistent) it to a random player spawn location. Would fix these issues right quick.

That's a bug and should be fixed now.

Regarding the auto return feature: That's a reasonable suggestion that should be added eventually.

Yea that fixed, BUT the original idea of this bug report was that The Terminator Sphere gets stuck off the map, as in, nobody can go get it.. Unless they can rj back onto the playing field.

But I guess i can go make a Suggestion for the autoreturn.

I'm well aware of this, I even acknowledged that auto return is a reasonable suggestion above.

It fixed it, but if there aren't any players on the server, newly connected clients will see the sphere/stone appear in the ceiling, floating with some momentum.

I finally made a first implementation for terminator. In this build the terminator ball should be moved to a random spawn spot 30 seconds after it has been spawned (no matter if it was spawned normally at map start or after being dropped by a player. If this works reasonably well, I can easily extend it to possession.

It works as advertised. Could the time be governed by sv_flagreturntime, or another CVAR if that's too abusive?

Alright, I added the new CVAR sv_artifactreturntime to control the return time (note that altering the CVAR does not affect any artifact that is already spawned) and added support for possession. Please test if this build works as expected.

Yes it does. 0 appeared to turn off autoreturning, which I assume is correct.

Yes, it is. Since this seems to be complete now (and terminator and possession finally playable on all maps!), I consider this ticket to be resolved.
