Multiple Player Classes (More Than 7)
Multiple Player Classes (More Than 7)
While I was developing the next update to Project 115 - A New Threat, I wanted to add more playable characters, or in this case player classes. Since Zandronum only supports up to 7 player classes as far as I know. Is it possible to add more than 7 player classes? If so, how would I be able to accomplish this?

RE: Multiple Player Classes (More Than 7)
This bug's been in Zandronum forever. For an example, see Samsara. It has 8 classes, but the Single Player menu has only the first 7. To play as the Ranger, you would have to either play online, or go to the Offline Skirmish menu in Multiplayer to set up a fake Multiplayer game.
Perhaps backporting ZDoom's current class selection menu is in order? (i would put something on the tracker but for some odd reason i cant log in or sign up :x)

I agree. In fact I'm amazed we haven't done it already considering WE'RE the multiplayer port.TehRealSalt wrote: Perhaps backporting ZDoom's current class selection menu is in order? (i would put something on the tracker but for some odd reason i cant log in or sign up :x)

RE: Multiple Player Classes (More Than 7)
We should be getting this in Zandro 3.0 actually.

Actually, you would have to choose a class, go to Player Options, choose the ranger, kill yourself and then you would have the class.TehRealSalt wrote: This bug's been in Zandronum forever. Or type spectate in console, select class, and join in.
Works even offline.

The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?

To be honest that's a singleplayer issue, so it's not much of a huge concern for a "Multiplayer" port. However, a bug is a bug and I'd support it being fixed.

Zandro 3.0 supposedly rewrites all menus. So now is the best time to suggest this on the tracker.

Do you mean that you expect that it will be in Zandronum 3.0, or that you would like it to be?-Jes- wrote: We should be getting this in Zandro 3.0 actually.

RE: Multiple Player Classes (More Than 7)
Yeah from what I can tell, ZDoom got rewritten menu code in 2.6, and Zan 3.0 is already a whole release version past that.
