Summary0000057: Certain chat characters have strange/annoying effects
DescriptionThis has been going on for ages and I'm surprised no one has reported it yet. Basically there's a few characters/code you can use in chat to cause some weird effects. There's two I know of.

The first one is simply a line break, which allows people to chat on a new line. This is annoying because people can do something like this:

RealPlayerName: Hey Player 2 are you a moron?
Player2: Yes I am!

Not only that but I've seen people just spam line breaks so it's impossible to see the chat, and the console doesn't help much either.

The second one is a little stranger. When used, the chat line is pasted right after the previous player's name. Again this is spammed often to annoy players. For example:

RealPlayerName: Player2: Damn these chat bugs are annoying!
Steps To ReproduceUnfortunately I have no idea how to do this online. Watching over a popular server is bound to have someone expose it, and it's been around for a while so I'm guessing SOMEONE knows how to do it.

Yeah, I've talked to Spleen about this. They are abusing the escape sequences.

Should be fixed now. I'll try to post a new testing binary later.

This should fix the issue, please test.

I only know how to reproduce the '\n' one. That one doesn't work anymore. But I don't know how to reproduce the other one where a player makes two individual chat lines appear on the same line.

This is how it looks like in-game:

RealPlayerName1: This person is lame. -----> RealPlayerName2: Hi, I just joined.

If it properly prevents \n from being abused, I'm pretty sure that it will also take care of the rest.
