Summary | 0000503: Mumble Positional Audio Support
Description | 'http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Positional-Audio [^]' "Positional Audio is a feature of Mumble that places the people talking to you in a certain position relative to your own depending on their actual position in the game you are playing. This way you can hear the person like his actual avatar in-game would be talking to you. If someone is NOT using Positional Audio, you would hear that audio source always from the same spot, equally loud from each of your stereo speakers." I think this would be _really_ handy to have for team-based games, since it would allow you to tell who is who much easier than having to point at them and check the ID display. I know that some people might think that this gives Mumble users an unfair advantage over normal players (since it gives someone audible information that they normally would not be able to have visually) but consider the fact that having voice chat in the first place is a major advantage over not having it in the first place. Also, because of the way the data is collected (all player positions are stored on the mumble server itself and are reported by each individual player) you cannot exploit this information to have a radar cheat on unsuspecting players. The only problem I could see is if you are in the same channel as players on the opposing team or as other players in an FFA. A simple toggle to enable or disable mumble positional information would suffice. Such a toggle should be disabled by default.
