Description | I've been watching Twitch streams of more modern team-based FPS games, where players play various forms of TeamLMS modes. It made me think it would be nice to have a similar feel in Zandronum if one wanted to. I found out there's sv_respawndelaytime, and when you combine it with sv_maxlives you can kind of get the gameplay to be in the same ballpark. However, if it's set to a higher value like 10-20 seconds for instance, players are forced to stay dead and wait without being able to move, which is very boring. For modes like (T)LMS, it would be a lot better if players could turn into temporary fake spectators and move around and observe the game when forced to wait until they can respawn. It would be a lot more fun and feel more modern. In addition, the "ifspectator" command would have to work for the fake spectator so you could easily spy on other teammates. And cl_telespy would ideally work as well. | ||||||||||||

The easiest way to handle this is to make the player a dead spectator until they're allowed to respawn. This would work well with game modes that already allow dead spectators, but I'm not sure about the ones that don't. |
