Summary | 0001606: Compatibility with Raspberry Pi
Description | Many people are using the Raspberry Pi, a wee low-cost, low-power, credit card-sized Linux computer as many different things (ie. web servers, retro game consoles, media centres, etc.) Although Chocolate Doom is supported on the Raspberry Pi, many of the multiplayer Doom community is on Zandronum. Then it hit me: why not run a Zandronum server on a Pi? Although the Raspberry Pi is a Linux computer, it cannot run the Ubuntu version as the Raspberry Pi is on a different board (ARM build). Could Zandronum be compatible with the Pi in future releases? Thank you, BlueHattedEngie

'http://lmgtfy.com/?q=zandronum+raspberry+pi [^]' tl;dr a server-only port (like how Skulltag had a server-only FreeBSD port) is certainly possible, but client support is dependent on ZDoom getting the OpenAL branch working. |

@Balrog For your information, I have taken the liberty of Googling the issue prior to posting this. I found your link to LMGTFY rude and patronising (no hard feelings). I just wanted this issue to be known so Raspi users could make Zandronum servers on their Pis with ease. |

Unfortunately there's the issue that none of the devs have a raspberry pi, so there's not much we can do here to warrant keeping this ticket open. The server should be easy enough to compile for it if there are no issues with going from x86 to ARM (there shouldn't be many especially after 2.0 is out). Someone with the hardware will have to do it themselves and submit any necessary patches. |
This issue is already marked as resolved. If you feel that is not the case, please reopen it and explain why. |
