Summary0001038: Addition to weapon automatic weapon switch -- Switch only if the current weapon isn't a +WEAPON.WIMPY_WEAPON
DescriptionThis would be best implemented as another option for automatic weapon switching, in player setup.

E.g., if the player has the pistol or fist out and runs over a weapon it will automatically switch, but if a more powerful weapon is selected it will not.

Seems like the best parts of having and not having weapon switch on, you'll be able to quickly switch to a weapon upon spawn but you won't switch away from a weapon you like that you accidentally ran over.

Maybe it would be better just to do a full preferred weapon order implementation?

That would be nice too, but I like this because it takes into account that the player will use anything but the pistol at start, but later on will only want to switch deliberately.

For example, if a player liked to use the rocket launcher more than the chaingun, and he or she put it above the chaingun in weapon select, it would always switch to the rocket launcher, which could be a problem if the pickup was accidental.

A full weapon order implementation would make it so that players can choose which weapon they would rather have at a given time, but after the first weapon pickup after the spawn I've never found myself accidentally running over a weapon I actually needed to switch to immediately (which is what auto switch is great for).

i.e., I'm ready to switch to the new weapon right away if I ran towards it to pick it up, so I don't really need auto switch to do it for me.

If it's possible, see if it can get added with AlienOverlord's PWO patch. I can always re-open this if its separate.
