Brutal Doom wanted features?

#1

Post by GoingZe1da » Thu Feb 27, 2014 3:02 am

First thread opened by myself on Zandronum, i'm happy to be here. So i've been playing Brutal Doom for a while now, but i'm always curious about what will be added next. This is where we discuss that, so yeah, i'll start. I would like to see varying ammo types, such as incendiary rounds for the rifle, or slugs for the shotgun, even a type of sticky mine for the rocket launcher. This would probably add more flavor to the game, being able to set a large group of enemies ablaze, or set up a minefield with the sticky proximity explosives. Shotgun slugs would be what they are, a chunk of lead with deadly precision. So those are my ideas. Anyone else?

I don't really like BD but I'd at least like to not see fatality cinematics EVERYTIME I kill something with Berserk. :/
Spoiler: Off Topic (Open)
I would like to see this in another place because Sgt. Whatshisface Mark IV oh god I said it * isn't exactly welcome here. (Little fiasco on his fault.) Also we get enough Brutal Doom threads anyway, and they're mostly problems in the user's faults. (Skins folder? Seriously?)

Geez, another Brutal Doom thread. Soon we'll have to open a whole new subforum, just for that one mod.

When you have Berserk, press your reload key while equipped with your fists. The fists will do a knuckle-cracking animation and you will be toggled into Smash mode, where you will gib enemies instead of doing an execution animation. Press reload again to toggle back.

The point was, maybe at least once for each type of enemy per map.

The berserk pack is also kind of overpowered, when i'm surrounded by a group of pinky demons, a simple punch initiates the fatality cinematic, which grants invulnerability for a short time, and after the cinematic has passed, I can quickly punch another demon to re-initiate the sequence, easily racking up over 200 hit points, without the consequence of getting mauled during the process.

In regards to the spoiler, where would you want to see this thread go? And what fiasco with Sgt. Mark IV? Forgive me on my part if I should know, just joined last night.

Sgt.Mark suggested someone should kill them self, and was a bit of a dick all round. Imo though I think people were a little harsh on him.

This.

GoingZe1da, Sgt_Mark has basically been kicked out of the major Doom communities for constantly being a pompous dick, playing the victim card (or the classic "you're just jealous") when confronted by legitimate criticisms, and acting like he's an exception to the rules.

Your suggestions aren't gonna get heard here because of Mark's ban. Try posting this on Facebook and ModDB.

I tried to give some benefit of the doubt to He-who-must-not-be-named, and all he consistently did was make a complete ass out of himself.

The best way to get anything to him is to post in the release thread. I find it somewhat hard to believe that he never checks it, but given his ...................... well, now that think I about it, I don't find it hard to believe. You could act as a surrogate if you want, but he is mainly working out of ModDb. (Until he gets kicked out of there.)

+the guy who started the threadwar about sgt.mark here is banned too, what a weird life

This thread only shows how popular is brutal doom, you even if you dislike it, there'll be people comming to foruns like this and will only read as first post:"brutal doom sucks, brutal doom's creator ..."
I don't know if it's me but, there's too much unnecessary drama these days...

Is is hard to post something like this?

I really like this post, it's simple, objective, and it don't wast people time reading how do you feel about brutal doom...

Just read most of the thread about Sgt. Mark IV's suicide encouragement, kind of disgusted with him now. ibm5155, you are definitely right, there is a lot of drama. Nine pages of it.

It's not that his work is hated (that much), but that his behavior is frowned upon and that's why discussing ideas about it here isn't going to really budge anything. No offense.

None taken. What do you propose I do, then? Would you show a newcomer the ropes, prehaps? I don't even know how to close a thread...

Only moderators can close a thread. But Brutal Doom isn't the only mod out there--there's a lot of other really good mods in the Projects section of the forum, or you could ask around for some suggestions as to what you could play.

Or just hang around on different servers and see what looks cool.
The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?
Metroid: Dreadnought - I am a dumb fanboy.
DemonSteele - ~come with me to anime world~

What Terminus said, poke around. Browse the Modifications like Projects, Skin releases etc. You'll find something that you'll wanna piddle about with.

From one newb to another, welcome to the forums!
Have you seen the Samara project (http://zandronum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=200), the stronghold project (http://realm667.com/index.php/component ... e-of-chaos), or the Samsarahold portmanteau project (http://zandronum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3053)? I'd list the Naraka project too, but I see the link is dead. Maybe you can get the PK's from Doomseeker and a server hosting it. If you're as new as I am, and want to play Samsarahold on single-player, use Doomseeker to load the PK files in this order. If you don't know how to use Doomseeker, I (or others) can help show you how.
strnghld_v1.pk3
strnghld_violence_v4.pk3
strongholdeditsnfixesv1.1patchv4.1.pk3
strongholditemsv7.1.pk3
samsarahold-v0.1b-core.pk3
samsarahold-v0.1b-code.pk3

I was quite new to the whole PK, wad, and Doomseeker thing when I first started here. Luckily the community was very patient with my newbishness. In return, I want to repay the favor (and take the stress off of them).
