Description | From looking at the changelog, it seems that it was changed to reset the time counter on the scoreboard upon map resets. Thinking about it some more, I believe it would probably be nice to let users retain the time counter for the entire time they're on a map on a server. This is to give players a proper perspective and sense of time progression in relation to other players on the server.
If the time counter is for instance reset after every full death in survival online, no new player connecting to the server or checking it out in a server browser will know how long the other players have been struggling on a certain map. I don't know about you, but to me when I used to play a lot of survival many years ago, part of the joy is when you're finally able to beat a map together and enjoy the sense of accomplishment from the long time spent together completing the task.
The current behavior removes a lot of that social sense of time progression. True spectators also get to retain their time counter, so losing if after map resets is a bit sad.
Though I guess it's a matter of perspective, the new behavior is cleaner of course, so I'm making this suggestion to hear your thoughts on it. |
