0001223: High resolution makes system unusable

Description

When setting resolution to 2880x1800, screen becomes black and Zandronum freezes (figured out by testing instead - it does not come back to normal after 5 seconds, and sounds of moving cursor can not be heard). Other programs are yet working fine (iTunes still keeps playing music), but neither Cmd+Q nor any other hotkey can kill Zandronum process so the computer needs to be restarted.
Tested on MacBook Pro 15" w/ Retina Display while having desktop resolution set as 1440x900 HiDPI.
(ZDoom works fine).

Steps To Reproduce

1. Enable fullscreen
2. Set resolution to 2880x1800
