Summary | 0004150: Title music loops with TITLEPIC graphic when music is replaced |
Description | Replacing the D_INTRO or D_DM2TTL music files with any other audio file in a format other than MIDI causes the song to be looped during the title screen of both Doom and Doom II, instead of the song playing once only. This happens once the TITLEPIC graphic returns after the song has finished playing, regardless of the audio file's length. The title music cannot be controlled with metadata tags such as LOOP_START and LOOP_END, and cannot even be made to loop immediately after the song ends, only forced to loop when the TITLEPIC graphic reappears on the screen.
This has been tested to work without an issue in Zandronum 2.1.2 and GZDoom, and only occurs in Zandronum 3.0, 3.1 and the 3.2 alpha. MIDI files have been tested to work fine and do not loop, while OGG and MP3 files will loop. XM and MOD module files will attempt to loop but stop after playing a fraction of the first sound in the song. |
Steps To Reproduce | Create a WAD or PK3 file that includes a replacement audio file for D_INTRO or D_DM2TTL in either the OGG or MP3 format, open Doom or Doom II with this file and listen to the music play out on the title screen. |
Additional Information | It is 2023 and I am still finding more things that Zandronum 3.0 somehow broke. |
