What is, for you , A mature community ?

Post by Tomthetom » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:50 pm

Hello ladies and Gentlemens
My post today is simply a question. What is for you a mature comunity ?
Not only in video gaming, but also in everyday's life. For me, age does not matter, for exemple, Zandronum's community is mature. Why ? Because it makes a while I'm on zandronum, and people are respecting each others, they share a same passion, Doom. Also, people arent writting like with tons of fault, of course I do faults in my writting, and some people does too, but I try to have a good writting, and I think thats what everyone in here does.
So give me your opinon People !
Have a good day !

a mature community is one that doesn't have to ask itself whether it's mature or not

also one that isn't completely full of itself

Interesting debate. I think a mature community can have debates and arguments but without people escalating things, also people show respect to each other, even people they don't know. And yeah, age definitely doesn't matter, You can be mature/immature at any age.

THIS comunity is the perfect example for an immature comunity!

Sorry to tell that, but you know it's true.

Dont listen to this guy!
our community is like 100% mature, I mean we got people like kirbonium, Avc, Soulsucka, Kirboy, spider, tosen, mr.cheater and ral. Some of these wonderful, intelligent well-rounded people are probably the best examples of our fantastic, kind, respectful, and growing community.

You forgot Mr. Cheater.

A mature community is a laid back, friendly and just kind community. There are some people who has these attributes here, but when the majority is really on the bad side, no matter how hard the good folks try it always ends up being immature.

A mature community doesn't give you shit when they lose and don't pretend they're god when they win.
The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?
Metroid: Dreadnought - I am a dumb fanboy.
DemonSteele - ~come with me to anime world~

Well, according to the packaging, all of the Doom games are rated "M" for "Mature".

That means that all Doom communities are inherently mature ... Right?
Reinforcements: midgame Survival joining/respawning
Doom64: Unabsolved: Doom64 + Diablo II
ZandroSkins: a pack made by our community
AeniPuffs: 3D blood and bullet puff effects, free to use for your own mods
Squad Radio: a WASD-based radio chat menu, add your own custom sounds!
Mercenaries (on hold)

A mature community is what you make of it. Whatever is mature to you. Although, we do have many immature folks roaming around, that will go for any community. The more people you have, the more likely it is that you'll gain trolls, smack-talking kids and the like. Especially in a 'competitive' gaming forum. Or really...Any gaming forum. I've seen plenty worse than this. But our community consists of maybe 500 active people? If that. Bound to be some bad apples in the group, but some of us here are old and 'wise' enough to know better. :)

how are you any sort of spokesman for a mature community ???
#1 i can guarantee you suck giant ass at doom, so therefore your opinion is already null and void

#2 i caught you jerking your shit to this:
Image
please take your internet presence to different websites and or gaming media, most likely something furry and yiffy
Oh the irony here in this topic.

Honestly on all the gaming forum sites ive been on, this one is certainly one of the best as far as maturity goes. By maturity, I mean the way other members treat each other for the most part, as well as just the interesting persons/personalities you get to meet. This site is germaphobe clean compared to TTG, a very popular gaming site (.6 mil users if im correct) that focuses on modern games, but the maturity of 70 percent of the users is nearly that of a 10 year old. Glad I never went back there.

Really, I just consigned myself to the fact that if I sit here long enough and twiddle my thumbs, this place would implode and it'd be hilarious.

A mature community as you said needs to have respect, especially for the boundary's and wishes of another person

Respect is key it applies to everything mentioned here.

I'm sorry, but I haven't seen a mature community since..
Ever? The mid 90s anyway.

There will inevitably and always be self-entitled know-it-alls and sperglords around to cause drama and grief.

This. In a mature community people could have intelligent discussion without fear of people like "YOU ARE WRONG AND YOUR MOTHER IS A WHORE AND NOBODY WILL EVER LOVE YOU LOL", like come on we really don't need that. Another thing to go by is not being afraid of controversial subjects and not having people attacking others for doing things differently.

From what I experienced, Zand can definitely be a constructive, mature community. I have literally never seen anybody tear each other apart, whether it be over a poorly made WAD or religious view. Even if we did it just gets tossed in the Trash.

The funny thing is, some of the arguments FOR the maturity of this comunity are in my eyes arguments against it:

A mature comunity does not need that strikt guidelines for each and every thread to beware of drama.
A mature comunity should be able to discuss stuff also in a funny way, I rarely see the ability of word jokes here. A mature comunity would not take everthing so serious: If two people disagreed it could be ok to write "hey son of a b*** - that's not true - with smiley" - both could laugh and continue...NOT HERE :D
Here, after 2minutes a very mature and serious admin comes to put everything to trash ;-)

Just my opinion- no drama pls. Burzum loves you all!

A mature community is simply a community that doesn't act immature.
