The modding capabilities of Doom is pretty much why I play Doom. That and it was my childhood.

Because I like first person shooters, but I dislike having to aim precisely, due to my naturally low dexterity stat. Most modern games (particularly the "tactical" ones) have focused on headshots and emphasized pinpoint mouse skill, while Doom retains reliance on quick reactions while making it possible to be decent with imprecise aim.

Also, I like dodging things in a first person shooter, like rockets and stuff.

I popped my Doom cherry on the 32X.

Yeah, go ahead. Laugh.

I've heard the 32x version doesn't suck.

My Dad used to play Doom at my aunt's old house and I used to watch him, pretty amazed and awestruck at the whole "virtual world" exploration side of it. I hadn't really been exposed to any other video games at the time aside from Minesweeper so that made the experiences all the more "meaningful."

There's a lot of reasons why Doom's a decent game but that's how I got into it. Some time after my dad stopped playing it my aunt gave me her copy and from then on out I played it on my own. Was around 7 years old at the time.

I used to play H.U.R.L. when I was very young. Watched pops play doom. What an eerie vibe that game had for me as a young lad.

I was introduced to Doom (Technically Doom 2) through an old PC Gamer article in a friend's garage. I'd touched the 95 version lightly throughout my childhood, playing it in school when I could...I dabbled here and there, but kept coming back to it, kept coming back to dodge more fireballs, etc...

I joined the Skulltag community last year, after a wave of nostalgia overcame me. Never looked back.

Because it's the best FPS game. I played it when I was young but I got sucked in when I found Skulltag, and was able to play Multiplayer and play all the community made stuff.

I was only 8 when I first played DooM... before that, I would sneak and try to watch my mom play it... but I've had loads of fun with it throughout the years, it's a true classic. My love for DooM shall never die, I will carry it to my grave.

I was kidnapped by ninjas when I was 6 and they tried to train me to play Doom. At 16 I was dishonored for my incompetence in multiplayer game modes (Fucked up one too many scrims with rival clans), but that never stops me from playing.

The first version of DooM I played was the PSX version.
Years afterwards I found out that it was actually 2 games split into one and decided to buy the PC versions.
And with that, I've been playing the games ever since.

Lookin' for an old game I may have played when I wasn't even in preschool yet, I couldn't remember what game it was so I asked around on the internet (stupid social games like Yoville and what not) and this guy gave me a link to a Doom demo on Kongregate. Then I got obsessed with it (this all happened like three or four years ago, and NOT the preschool part, duh) and played it ever since. My CoD fanatic friend at school doesn't like it and he can't explain why (he's cod, that's why, and he's probably queasy, wimp...), and he knows I know pretty much everything about and in Doom. I even read a little about the creators and etc on Wikipedia before I even bought it off Steam. (after that, got ALL available idsoftware games) I think that may bother him, but when there's a sudden invasion of demons on Earth, we all who play Doom knows what to do. And, I may not even have found the game I was looking for, but what ever that game was, can't beat this. Nothing will in forever. Wow, you actually read all of that? I'd delete it and think better than to post this giant paragraph, but then that would have been a waste of time.
Shut up, nurse!
