Despite its checkered past, Hollywood has been hard at work grabbing up video game properties in hopes of turning them into new movie franchises and now word is a classic game is finally getting it's chance on the big screen.
No, Pac-Man fans, it's not a horror flick about a big, yellow headed guy with an addiction to pills who gets chased by ghosts, but it is Castle Wolfenstein! First released way back in 1981, the original game was low on plot as the player is tasked with traversing through a castle in order to escape with secret plans. The story was later flushed out in Wolfenstein 3D game and it's sequels about a soldier who stumbles upon Hitler's secret plan to create an army of undead soldiers.
The planned film will follow a similar plot, focusing on a young U.S. Army captain and a British special agent who travel to Castle Wolfenstein to discover details on the new secret weapon Hitler is unveiling. There, they discover Hitler's SS Paranormal Division and must fight for their survival and foil Hitler's plans before he destroys the world.
Pulp Fiction writer Roger Avary will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote. Avary is a big fan of the game and credits its "outlandish sensibility" with influencing his career. Resident Evil producer Samuel Hadida is also involved and calls it a "big action adventure" film with a solid story that promises to take audiences on a "wild and fun cinematic ride".
No word yet on when we can expect Castle Wolfenstein to hit theaters, but does it sound like a film you're planning to see?
Personally, I don't know what to make of this. Let's just they don't fuck this one up like they did with Doom.
So, thoughts?
A short poem
I dig, you dig, we dig, he digs, she digs, they dig.
It's not a beautiful poem, but it sure is deep.

Don't know what to say, there's nothing to look at right now. Maybe when there's a trailer...

Hey, I enjoyed the Doom movie: a mindless action flick that gets funnier each time I see it. Hopefully this will be no worse.
EDIT: Nice mismatching the gameplay footage there. >_>

After the Doom movie, I'd be lying if I said I'm excited. Making a movie based off the game that popularized the first-person shooter genre is a mighty task and will require talented work to pull it off.
I don't want to be disappointed like I was with the Doom movie. Extra chromosome instead of demons? Way to go Hollywood.

Well, with Inglorious Basterds' success, Hollywood should be fine with murdering Nazis.
That said, please don't let this suck

I guess it all boils down to the question of who is making it. But since it's Hollywood I'm sort of skeptical.

Interesting... I wasn't that impressed with the Doom movie, the only good part was the first person part. Let us hope that they won't screw this up!

Lets hope they don't cast The Rock as Blazkowicz.

I'll be optimistic about this and say it looks promising; it can't be worse then some of the garbage that keeps hitting the shelves today.

Yea, depending on who directs it, etc. will depend on how good it probably does.

Wasn't the character itself (Blazkowicz) a Jewish-American soldier or something of the sorts? I really wouldn't see The Rock playing as the guy.
