Was about to correct this for you, but you apparently already know that it got the joke mod award and not a real mod award.Lord Smash wrote:Brutalist Doom (You know the entire Doom community is going to hell when this cheap texture and palette replacer gets a mockaward)

Like: JM, ZH (older versions), russian overkill, and most oldschool survival wads (preferably with a interesting mod ontop)
Dislike: GVH, AOW2, zdoomwars, brutaldoom, duel in its entirety.
Pure hatered: MAP28 on the CTF scrim server.

That review was on v24, not the current v25. Currently, I dislike how almost every monster is on a dark-palette now.-Jes- wrote:Catastrophe wrote:-~=Neutral Mods=~-

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
That's one of the big problems with reviewing in-development mods, honestly.
They can change heavily down the road and turn into something completely different, while the original review stands in positive/negative contrast with its worse/better development.

The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?
Metroid: Dreadnought - I am a dumb fanboy.
DemonSteele - ~come with me to anime world~

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
My list of popular mods:
Very dislike:
Zombie Horde and its shit-patches (the worst zombie infection mod ever, the idea isn't bad, but gameplay is still..., no quality control)
Gays vs Homos and its shit-patches + forks (gameplay and balance are shit too, quantity over quality like in previous mod)
All Out War R2 and various forks of old aow (breaking of usual gameplay + more disbalanced crap, adding a lot of new beautiful graphics won't help)
Deathrun (shitty acs code, very bugged maps, disbalanced traps...)
Dislike:
Brutol Dumb (YOBA, kids love it)
Propshit (the good idea with bad realization)
Old Master Of Puppets (especially with chillax, no comments)
Neutral:
ZDoom wars
Megagame
JumpMaze
DemonSteele
Stupid LMS
Survivalism
Push
Like:
Super Demon
Real Guns Advanced (very disbalanced in PvP gamemodes)
Cyberruner (this mod wasn't so popular, but sadly the development is stopped D:)
HardDoom
Complex Doom
Very like:
Old Good AOW2 (1)
Samsara
Russian Overkill
Who Dun It
Shotgun Frenzy!!!!
I'm not author of them:
Sectorcraft
BlockDoom

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
Really like:
Rocket Jumping Extreme - Finish the remastered version already, James!
Quite like:
All Out War 2 Omega and before - Y'know, the time when balance and proper focus on tournaments as an actual thing?
Cyberrunner - SPEEEEEEEEEEEED... ahem. Rocket jumping mixed with speed? Yes please.
JumpMaze - Always been a fan of 3D platformers, and this doesn't fail at making things interesting.
Minigames - A more serious version of Stupid LMS. ...kinda.
Push - Very fun and fast paced action with a simple gimmick.
Samsara - Can't ignore the classics, can ya?
Scythe - Pseudo Doom 1 episode system? What can possibly go wrong?
Shotgun Frenzy - For some reason this feels better than Stronghold even though it's arguably simpler than Stronghold, minus the commander system.
UDM# - If some of the maps didn't feel like crap, I would really like this series
Like:
Alien Vendetta - If you ignore map20 onwards, this megawad is quite good
All Out War - If this was better polished, I would like this more
Demonsteele - Sword fighting? Yes please. Though.. it's a little lackluster in my opinion. Also, anime? Really? Eeeeeeh. Not unfitting, but feels a little out of place.
Ghouls vs Humans V2 - This is probably when the balance didn't suck as much, honestly.
Hard Doom - Realm667 bestiary before Realm667 bestiary really became a thing. (Yes, I know, these were later added to it)
Hell Revealed 1 and 2 - Slaughterfest maps that actually have some meaning to them and not just mindless slaughtering.
IGPack - Minus the fact that these maps can feel a little over the top -- and sometimes laggy -- this mod isn't that bad.
Level Master - Master of Puppets if it didn't suck.
Memento Mori 2 - Can't remember much about this, but I know I enjoyed it to some degree.
Rocket Jumping 2 - How can I not put this in when this was the first mod I played?
Rocket Jumping Extreme 2 - Finish this already, James! I would love to see this finished already!
Stronghold - Minus the fact that the par time is extremely strict, the fact some maps are laggy and the fact that the difficulty curve feels a bit weird at times, this isn't too terribly bad.
Stupid LMS and other related mods - Mindless fun. Though, gets utterly repetitive at times (talking about gimmicks, specifically).
Super Skulltag - Minus the maps that seems unnecessarily large, this isn't that bad of an alternate version of Doom 2, and it sure as hell feels better than d2twid.
Whodunit older patches - Honestly, this felt a lot better to me than the later editions, especially since the maps weren't as utterly laggy as they can be now.
Neutral:
Complex Doom - This isn't half bad, if only a much later mentioned wad wasn't added all the damn time...
Deathball - Aerial, stop hogging the ball all the time! No wonder people don't play this that often!
Deathrun - Despite the lack of proper development, this isn't as bad as some think.
JumpMaze 2 - The maps here are less focused on exploration and more focused on just getting to the end as quickly as possible.
Knee Deep in ZDoom - If this was complete with all the episodes, I would probably have liked this more. Plus, some of the maps feel really confusing.
Mercenaries 1.9 - Not terrible, but still needs to be fleshed out.
Prop Hunt - TF2/GMod versions are better, honestly.
Real Guns Advanced series - CoD in Doom? Meh. Not bad, but not great.
Samsara addons - This is hit or miss. I was going to put this in dislike, but then I realized that some of these addons aren't utter crap.
Wrath of Cronos - If only some of these things were properly explained and some of these stats actually had any use...
ZDoom Wars - Mindless strategy game that only really is fun on certain maps.
Dislike:
Brutal Doom - Want more gory slaughter? Meh.
Doom (2) the way id did - This doesn't feel like it would be the way id wanted it, honestly. It feels like a worse remake of the levels.
Hide 'n' Seek - There's only like.. two classes that are worth playing.
Jailbreak - Glitchbreak and campbreak. Need I say more?
Quite dislike:
Anything after Jumpmaze 2, including Retro JumpMaze, Neo JumpMaze, JumpMaze 3, etc. - Ugh. This is when people are just trying way too hard to be cool.
Mercenaries 1.8 and before - ...Blah. This is basically a failed attempt at doing anything right, but at least the guy behind it knew better.
Whodunit later patches/fan modifications - Fan modifications ruined the suspense of the game, and later patches just felt worse than the original.
Zombie Horde - Aptly nicknamed Zombie Whored. Ugh.
Really dislike:
All Out War 2 after Omega - Balance? Let's just add more classes, items, mechs and the like!
Chillax - Want to rip off everyone? Want maps that actually look like crap? Ew.
Anything after GvHV2 - Balance? Let's just add more classes! We don't need balance!
Master of Puppets - Paired with slaughterfest maps, this gets really disgusting really fast. Even worse if there's other things added.
Hate:
Just Ammo modifier - Why. Just.. why.
Rocket Jumping Extreme - Finish the remastered version already, James!

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
ME LIKE
Pinochestein 3D (any version): TOTAL BIAS :D
Action Doom 1: Probably the first doom mod i've played that uses DECORATE and Scripts. Nice style.
Urban Brawl: I like punching things. Nice style.
Demonsteele: Better swordfights than Shadow Warrior. I prefer the Doom styled health system, though.
RGA whatever: I like guns. :D
Ghouls VS Humans: Very fast placed.
GvH: Legacy of Darkness: Not better or worse than regular GvH, but more content is nice, most of the time.
Samsara: I like the idea of playing as someone from another game. I haven't played enough PvP matches on it, unfortunately.
1-up mod: Hey, I can like my own mod, right? Hopefully I'll have time to finally update it.
GMOTA: Nice, but I need to play it more.
Metal Slug Doom and Contra Doom: A not-so-friendly reminder that you are supposed to DODGE projectiles.
MM8BDM: Lots of projectiles to dodge, and nice weapon gimmicks. I wish they had more damage output, though.
PUSH: It's funny in a sillier way.
Prop hunt: Same as above.
Level master: Too bad there aren't enough fitting maps.
Master of Puppets: A nice way to make Doom competitive AND cooperative.
Brütal Doom: I don't take it seriously at all, I just enjoy all that mess.
Hard Doom: Doom but harder :v
ZBlood: Not faithful, still funny.
Complex-Doom: Kind of between Hard-Doom and Brütal Doom.
Guncaster: I like money and shooting things.
Shotgun frenzy: I like money and defending things.
Old Skulltag DM: I miss it.
Maps:
Alien Vendetta.
TNT Evilution.
Hell Revealed 1.
Doom The Way id Did.
Knee Deep in the dead.
UDMX.
ME NO LIKE
GvH Tons of Extra classes: Eeeeh, Last time I checked, it was waaaayy too messy.
All out war whatever: Matches are too long.
Saxton Hale (8BDM mod): It may be funny for 2 or 3 matches, but it gets too repetitive afterwards.
H-Doom: No.
Chillax: I'm not skilled enough for this. :(
Project MSX: Kinda awkward.
NEUTRAL YET WORTH MENTIONING
Stronghold: I REALLY WISH I COULD RUN IT!!!! D:
Ghouls Vs Humans: Nordic Saga: It doesn't seem to get the "Melee based team vs Ranged based team" part right. Still better than "no GvH at all".
Anything else it either neutral, unknown or I don't remember it right now.

Anything else it either neutral, unknown or I don't remember it right now.
Why is finding the user CP so hard?
RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
WANT
DO NOT WANT
- Project MSX - A nice refreshing mod that brings back everything I loved about Halo 1.
- Samsarahold - Interesting idea, still needs some kinks worked out but overall very addictive and very fun.
- RGA Refined - Very addictive, very balanced, great way to kill time.
- Reelism - Hilarious, addictive, what more to say?
- Russian Overkill - PUSHKA
DO NOT WANT
- All Out Whore - Was fun for a while but now every server is filled with nothing but retards and/or campers.
- Jumpmaze and Deathrun - I know they're different but these servers seem to attract the same crowd of taunt-spamming, chatbind-spamming weebs that totally kill the fun of all of it. Also vrskins for the fucking fail. I actually enjoyed Deathrun for the first few versions and I actually helped out with its development but it eventually got really stale really fast so I left it alone.
- Brutal Doom - No explanation needed, it's just not for me.
- Complex Doom - Basically Brutal-HardDoom, nothing "complex" about it. Still waiting to see a single feature or system that's unique to the mod and that sets it apart from every other "replace everything and make it harder" mod. Also the creator is a control freak with Sgt.Mark Syndrome. Any criticism you make of the mod is instantly wrong and rooted in jealousy simply because it's been one of the most popular survival server mods for a few months now even though really nothing has changed in the core gameplay of the mod in literally a year, it's just a reskinned HardDoom with slightly different monster and weapon resources each version.

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
Enjoy:
Dreadnought (Finally someone does a good metroid doom)
Death and Decay (I like the concept)
Endless Survival (Reminds me of Killing Floor and Left 4 Dead)
ArkDoom (Gotta give arkore props for working on it)
Goldeneye Doom (Come on, I love Goldeneye. Can't go wrong)
Mortal Kombat (the port doomero made, I just like the concept of porting SNES games to Doom)
Enjoyable preferably in a small group or an occasion:
Samsara (Too many people is clusterfuck-ish)
Demonsteele (Hosting it for SNS was fun, needs more servers)
Ghouls Vs Humans LoD (Again, a small group makes it more exciting for some reason)
ZDoom Wars (I think when I get in a monster war mood it sates my carnage craving)
Wouldn't Really Prefer to Play:
All Out War 2 (I had my fill a long time ago and it's grown plenty since the last time I showed real interest in it)
Who Dun It (Sometimes it's a little chuggy on my machine, and then there's the TK'ers...)
Complex Doom (If there REALLY isn't anything else and I wanna play SOME form of survival)
Extremely dislike:
Complex MoP: It's a unbalanced, clusterfuckish, public peasant mod at the moment. And I can't find enjoyment in it. I never really liked normal MoP to begin with.
Any Mansion-esque wads: some that try to be scary or not ( always lazily made, and not usually very fun anytime I try)
Well it's kind of easy when health items respawn, but turning items off makes people hog ammo and some have to fist it out. This is a good compromise.

The dumber the gameplay gets, the more people it attracts.

RE: Favorite (and "less favorite") maps/mods?
Hell Yes
- All Out War 2: I like it quite a bit, for some reason. I'm not a huge fan of 2.1, however.
- Bosses From Hell: It's good if you can get some people to play.
- Jumpmaze (and similar): Great offline or online. Quite fun and makes time pass quickly.
- Who Dun It: I enjoy the idea, but the small choice of maps makes it boring.
- Zombie Horde: Same reason as Who Dun It.
- Horde of the Bagels: It's a Zombie Horde add-on designed by an 11-yea-old, for eleven-year-olds.
- Complex Doom: It certainly lives up to its name.
- Brutal Doom: It's just plain crap. And let's not forget about its creator...
