Oh, sure! Thanks for hosting!

In my case, the order made no difference - you can load the HUD or the maps first, not a problem.
But the order I used was MAPS > HUD > Additional stuff.

I recommend loading zandrospree2rc2.pk3, hudtimer_v3b.pk3, NewTextColours1_170.pk3 or updated versions. ctfcap2c1.pk3 is good for priv.

If you don't like the flags that come with the map pack, odaflagx.pk3 works like a charm - just be sure to load it AFTER the map pack.
Doesn't contain a white flag replacement, though.

Here's the config:

This is a slightly modified version of the config I used when I first hosted it on [BE].

If there's anything wrong with the config, or you've got suggestions, please let me know.

I'm just finishing up a new version, with more maps and weapon balance - will be released soon.

Heretic - Silverspring CTF! 45 maps, 2-way, one-flag ctf compatible.
Questionable quality, but they look decent - rework on the way.

UAC: Close Quarters Combat CTF! 27 maps, one-flag ctf compatible.
Work in Progress - Thorough testing pending.

Project Update - The Relese Candidate is out! Download links here and on the first post!

Here it is - the Release Candidate. Boasting 45 maps, this one is pretty much the final revision before a proper release. Unless problems are found, of course.

If you guys find anything wrong in there - texture misalignment, wonky item/decoration distribution, etc - don't hesitate to tell me, by posting here, PM, IRC - your call.

With this version, I've separated the weapon decorate modifications into a separate file, so you can use it with other Heretic mods.
Heretic DM, Parthoris Duel, etc.

The weapon patch contains the obituaries, and boosts the Ethereal Crossbow considerably - double base damage and speed for all arrows, plus the powered up visual effect for the standard bolt. Now you can one-shot people with it! If you're accurate.

Special mention goes to Ru5tk1ng, for lending me his Lethal Heretic pack - but there were too many modifications, so I decided to just boost the crossbow. Thanks for the assistance anyway!

The various concerns from the previous version have been addressed.
Spoiler: Concerns (Open)
Weapons Stats, appearance, code.
  • - Sharp increase in projectile speed for the Crossbow, because its projectiles are too easy to dodge; DONE!
    - Team-colored projectiles, because most weapons are projectile-based, and quite visible, creating some visual havoc; I don't even know where to begin
    - Check obituaries again, because they're still working intermittently. Online-only, no idea.

Maps Item placement, layout.
  • - Replace (most) Mystic Urns because runners end up hoarding them and becoming effectively immortal; DONE!
    - 2w09, flag ended up in an unreachable location in the mid tower, near the top, investigate; Could not be reproduced.
    - 2w11, lower flag lift by 32 so people can see whether or not there's someone at the flag position. DONE!
    - 2w12, decorations near the flag end up disrupting gameplay, (re)move them; DONE!
    - 2w22 ended up just confusing, as predicted - review layout, add more directional cues; DONE! - Map reworked.
    - Test 2w14 again in particular, with a small number of players and weapon modifications. DONE!
HUD
  • - Investigate disappearance of the HUD timer (from the hudtimer mod) after a few minutes of game time/after blue scores a few points (maybe because of the point counter's position, don't know); Online-only, no idea.
MOST concerns, at least.

I've included 5 more maps, thus cutting the available community map slots by 5. There's still time to submit your maps, though!

Handy download links: I have no servers up for the moment, feel free to host or try it offline.

Anything I forgot, bugs to report - drop a message.

One of the ways to do this is the following:
  • make multiple player classes for corresponding teams (BluePlayer, RedPlayer)
  • give these player classes a default item in the inventory (BluePlayerIdent, RedPlayerIdent)
  • have two different crossbow (for example) modifications, both inheriting from normal crossbow (BlueCrossbow, RedCrossbow); crossbows fire color-translated projectiles according to player's team
  • never give weapons directly (including map pickups); instead, give a "CrossbowGiver" class that checks for BluePlayerIdent or RedPlayerIdent and gives the player the corresponding crossbow version
The other way I know is executing an ACS script that checks player's team and a conditional jump in DECORATE code of the weapon every time the player fires it, and producing appropriate projectiles based on script's result (and/or displaying different weapon graphics on the HUD, but you will have to write the conditional jump for every state).

And a third way involves giving the projectiles player's translation, but I don't know any details about it except that it'd require recoloring projectiles so they have the same color as the player (i.e. the natural color, so the translation is applied properly).
