The fourth instalment of our favourite franchise is finally here, well, in the form of a teaser trailer. Quakecon can't come soon enough. Thoughts?

The trailer reminds me of generic trailers for action horror movies. I dunno why, but it kinda disappoints me.

I'm interested in that it means it's getting made, and the door sound means they're at least familiar with the classic and how people are still interested in it.
There's really not a whole lot else you can do aside from knee-jerk reactions with that, though.

I'm still afraid of seeing a gameplay similar to the latest Wolfenstein: sliding, iron sights, hp regeneration, glowing items and in one three words: console casual friendly junk.

1. Ironsights are optional in W:NO and offer no accuracy bonus, they just let you get a closer view of a target.
2. The sliding mechanic is actually quite fluid. It's just hitting crouch while running.
3. HP Regeneration is only in groups of 20. It's kind of like a classic Health system combined with the Chronicles of Riddick health system (Health Cells). Meaning if you lose more than 20hp at a time in a fight, you lose that entirely until you find a Health Kit. Health kits are still absolutely necessary, and if you're down to 20 health, you're pretty much fucked just like in any old FPS.
4. Glowing items can be disabled in the PC Version via the command console.

I might appear like a turd, and in fact I admit I am, shamelessy: everything is still excessively casual for me. What I like in an fps is something like RotT (remake), Serious Sam 3 BFE, Hard Reset, Painkiller, you get the idea.
Anything else is tedious to play for me. I'm aware it's just my taste but this is it.

I'm not hyped. The latest games from Id weren't that good. RAGE was aweful, and I haven't tried the new Wolfenstein though there wasn't anything that draw my attention about it.
Keep in mind that none of the original Id Software members are left, these aren't the guys that made Doom.
So... just doing a reality check.

So if the cyber Demon is in this and its called Doom Do you think it will be an actual Doom3, do you think it will retell the entire story of Doom 1 and 2, or just be Doom2 as Doom3 was Doom1?

I know this is a zandronum forum and that most of the people don't care the graphics, but I really hope it has better graphics and WAYS BETTER processor optimalisation than Wolfenstein.

It's probably going to use the idtech5 engine - the same as the new wolfenstein. So I don't think it's going to be noticeably optimized.
