@Shane : Not sure why the fear of sharing his ip honestly...is true is less secure but meh =p
@SwordGrunt : I am totally agree with you for this one.
I strongly believe that any ban done on the master server should be review before any action (I assume is the case or should be). I don't know if it was in this case, since review about this for example don't seem to be revealed to the public (unless I'm totally wrong). I kinda wish the Master Server Staff would post they review to the public with the evidence that prove of they wrong doing, keeping the public informed why X was ban and possibly avoid a bit of drama.
On a side note, I think the master server section would need a report section, where people could post the offender name, evidence, etc. The Master Server Staff could reply to those thread they result and/or action. Then again, this is just a suggestion and my opinion. I could be wrong X3

Master bans for cheating are always reviewed, I have personally caught more than five cheaters via demo.

Thanks for your reply Catastrophe! Always good to know that master bans for cheating are always review!Catastrophe wrote: Master bans for cheating are always reviewed, I have personally caught more than five cheaters via demo.
I will admit that I would still prefer if those review would be post to public with the evidence, so everyone know what's going on. We could just redirect them to the post that contain the result of they review. Doing so could have the potential to avoid some drama, confusion and provide information to anyone who need it.
Like I say, this is my opinion, each community have they own method, rule, etc. What may work for X community may not work for Y. I can only speak from my global experience sadly =/ Sorry if my post was a bit off topic for this thread. I just saw a opportunity to express my opinion

I actually did check with Konar about this one. His responses definitely leaned towards "yes, he did hack", so I went with it.

No. Making evidence public is a bad idea because more than half of you guys don't even know what to look for when someone is cheating. So then you'll have idiots responding with something along the lines of, "'X' is not cheating u guys r mad cuz he pro jejeje xdxd"Ninjamander wrote:Thanks for your reply Catastrophe! Yeah between hacking claims having no public evidence and only the word of someone else to testify for it, versus having the evidence to look at with my own eyes, verify the judgement with, and tolerate a few idiots crying "lel no hax" over, I'll take the second option.Catastrophe wrote: No. Making evidence public is a bad idea because more than half of you guys don't even know what to look for when someone is cheating. Metal, Jenova, Cyber, etc are perfectly capable of catching cheaters easily. If it's one thing I trust them for, it's definitely catching cheaters.Ijon Tichy wrote:Yeah between hacking claims having no public evidence and only the word of someone else to testify for it, versus having the evidence to look at with my own eyes, verify the judgement with, and tolerate a few idiots crying "lel no hax", I'll take the second option.Catastrophe wrote: No. Making evidence public is a bad idea because more than half of you guys don't even know what to look for when someone is cheating. Doesn't mean everyone else trusts them. Also doesn't mean evidence (demos, etc) to back up their claims are suddenly pointless.Catastrophe wrote: Metal, Jenova, Cyber, etc are perfectly capable of catching cheaters easily. If it's one thing I trust them for, it's definitely catching cheaters.
Besides, wasn't this port made with the intention blatantly stated to keep administration open? Withholding evidence works precisely against that.
edit: holy hot damn that was the intention

hmm..now that I think about it...is pretty easy to tolerate those idiot as Ijon say. Not only that but you can also ban those idiot if they are prove to be too much X3. From experience, I never saw many of those people. I actually saw more thread about <WHY IM BAN, WHY X IS BAN, blablabla>. Keep in mind that mistake can happen and is normal. The issue is not about trusting them either, is the ability to know why and see it for yourself.Catastrophe wrote:Metal, Jenova, Cyber, etc are perfectly capable of catching cheaters easily. RE: Ban in Grandvoid servers for nothing
Well, if the admins point out in which part of the demo the cheating is visible and explain it why it's visible (and not just a lucky shot) then these guys have nothing to base their arguments on."'X' is not cheating u guys r mad cuz he pro jejeje xdxd"
Besides, I'd love to learn a bit from the pro admins catching cheaters. It's embarrassing to report someone for cheating and have it turn out that it wasn't the case at all. Happened to me multiple times. I started questioning my intelligence ever since the last time that happened.

I trust them as well! It's not a matter of trust here.Catastrophe wrote:Metal, Jenova, Cyber, etc are perfectly capable of catching cheaters easily. If it's one thing I trust them for, it's definitely catching cheaters.
It's a matter of reference and posterity, since the goal was to have more open administration that didn't operate in the shadows.
Besides, I'd like to think the admins are mature enough to ignore/dismiss people who go "jejeje so pro".
The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?
Metroid: Dreadnought - I am a dumb fanboy.
DemonSteele - ~come with me to anime world~

This is part of the reason why Zandronum was made if you think about it. To work as a community...not everything with arbitrary decision =/TerminusEst13 wrote:I trust them as well! "Hah, im in their clan. I dont think unix cheats though."
UnixAssassin cheating video I uploaded a while ago. This individual didn't believe me until I had to point out at the end that Unix himself admitted to cheating.
"1:15 - ever heard of random shots? 1:36 - he's waiting for you to go up the teleporter or from the sides. 2:00 - wat 2:30 - doesn't really look like it 2:56 - that's an easy camping spot, his reactions look natural 4:30 - he saw you go up the stairs, he knew you were going to get the plasma"
Another individual arguing with me that shadowfox wasn't cheating when he actually was.
"Kal DOES NOT hack he is just insanely good and people get butt-hurt when they lose and cry to YouTube"
Yet another individual who defended kalfoxis when legion caught him the first time.
"Aimbot? No wonder I left Skulltag. It's a community of fucking morons. He wasn't aimbotting shit."
Yep, another guy that thought kalfoxis wasn't cheating.
Case and point.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for open administration. But when it comes to catching cheaters the general population isn't educated enough about the tools they use.

RE: Ban in Grandvoid servers for nothing
Basically public opinion can be too stupid or too blind to be accepted in a public "X got banned for Y reason, with evidence" thread.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, these stupid opinions can lead to thread drama.

I never said we are all stupid people, but in our community there are stupid people who make the dumb and blind opinions.
Arbitrary decisions are made by professionals that know what they are doing when caughting cheaters.
