The problem is that other members STRONGLY advised me recruiting him. Of course I'm not running around looking for people I don't even know.

You're the leader of vgl aren't you? That means the final word of recruiting somebody should come down to you. Ten and myself have rejected people before whom some of our members wanted to recruit. If i were you i'd have a closer look at some of your members that are hesitant on you to recruit some aliaser whom you've probably only known a couple of hours.
