What rendering settings do you prefer?
RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
Models intermixed with sprites just look weird and out of place. If everyone suddenly started making all of their mods with models, it'd be a nice touch, but most things with extra monsters/items/decorations/anything other than Vanilla doom maps look disjointed with any model packs on.
Not to mention Zandronum hasn't got the best default models anyway, Jdoom's weapon and monster models totally trash everyone else's.
Now I'm off to reinstall jDoom.

Except the JDoom cacodemon looks like a cross between a pug and a t-rex.

OpenGL all the way, because I like fancy stuff. If I want nostalgia then I'll play the original .exe games.

That's why I have a key toggle - I can enable models when and if they fit the game/map/mod.Medicris wrote:Models intermixed with sprites just look weird and out of place.

I've mixed and matched the cream of the currently available community crop and added my own improvements - I've seen videos on jootoob of vastly better models, but so far have yet to find them.

Default as in "standard model set available".-Jes- wrote:.. What default models?Medicris wrote: Not to mention Zandronum hasn't got the best default models anyway![]()

OpenGL although I turn all sprite related stuff off and most other things off as well because they make the game look more ugly rather than improving it.

I use both, depending on the mod. If it's vanilla, I go software. If it's a big massive mod where it no longer feels like doom, I go Ogl.
RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
- OGL because freelook
- No AA/AF, texture filtering or HQ resize
- No HQ textures either
- Uncapped framerate because 30 bothers my eyes for some reason. I guess I just got used to playing @ 60+ FPS in almost every other game I own.
- No VSync.
- All shaders enabled, I don't know what they really do so I just leave them alone.
- Doom lighting, 1.0 gamma.
- Rendering set for quality.
- 1920x1080 resolution.
RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
OpenGL purely because I get fisheye stretching when I render in software, probably doing something wrong but OGL does the job fine.
RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
Everything maxed out (:
Btw if you want to use hq4x better use it with trilinear filtering

RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
I prefer (obviously) OpenGL rendering, but thanks to my old PC (which is a piece of "rusty junk") i can only have at maxinum Linear filters with 2x Anti-aliasing.
But, IMO, in OpenGL it's always needed at least bilinear filters. Linear only sucks bad. And HQNX it's just made to make the game heavier.

OpenGL, trilinear filtering, 8 or 16x AF, no high quality resize and sector lighting mode Doom.

RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
Playing on openGL messes me up when I switch to ZD/oda, so I always use software

RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
Software, 1920x1080, capped frame rate. I rarely use open gl these days.

RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
opengl with native resolution of 1280x1024, uncapped frames. I try to go for the smoothest visual experience since anything else gives me a migraine

RE: What rendering settings do you prefer?
Most definitely software, 640x480 on a 21" CRT monitor. I believe that is how the game was intended to be played. Although I'm stuck on a 1080 flat panel nowadays
I have yet to try the high res textures. And I have taken a liking to the GL lighting FX on candles. I don't like the lighting FX on armor and barrels and such.
