An impostor

[Doc Holliday]

Has anyone seen another player masquerading around as me? He basically got on irc and told me he was going to use my name and that was that. (though he was polite about it.) I have been unable to get in contact with this gentleman via IRC, and I'm not down with him using my name. the only info I have is a link to a Strife/MLP fanfic he's writing, and one of his former names, eternaldoom. FWIW I have definitely seen the name " Ichtudirweh" around, tell him to keep it unless that's also someone else's name.

It's not quite as silly as fighting over MLP names, but slightly more so than say, someone deciding to use the name "Marcaek." Still, IMHO he should pick a different name.

I understand what you're saying about how many people in real life use Doc Holliday, Qent, but in an environment in which one can take and hold a name, it becomes more... Serious? Not sure what word to use. But what I'm saying is, I can associate the name with myself and make use of these means of verification, but this guy can just come in and take the name?

My take on the "using someone else's name" is that whoever uses the name first (and is known by that name) generally has "dibs" on it.

I'm cool with aliasing, but it's always best to use an alias people can't confuse with other people. I've heard several people are confusing poor Terminus for me on IRC.

I just sent the author a message on the FIMFiction website. I looked at the comments on his Fanfiction and most of them are his own providing updates to the story -_-
The Fanfic is a chose your own adventure story. Last time I read something like that was Goosebumps when I was 8 or something. No, I don't like it at all. The concept is interesting, but I don't think he executes it well.
