Konda wrote: Hell, even I like using it occasionally. It's useful for cleaning small areas like your buildings that need quick response. Losing this effect would make it kind of useless, considering the small range it has. I do agree it's kind of lame to use SSG during the entire game, but there are indeed ways to counter it, even in the renegade 2030 map where it's supposedly the most used weapon. Also, you need to have perfect accuracy at close range (that is to land nearly all of the bullets) to one-shot someone. So, be careful when you're going around the corners, and keep your distance from the SSG guys.
But it shouldn't be able to oneshot $1000 dudes. Freebie classes? Go right ahead; they're free; they're not meant to be any good. Dudes who tote around rocket launchers and miniguns and heavy armor like it's nothing? Yeaaahhh maybe that armor should deflect SSG pellets (which, being pellets, are more suspectible to armor anyway), and that money shouldn't be able to just disappear into thin air that quickly.

Also, being able to aim straight isn't a high bar to hit. In exchange, everyone who goes around a corner without having grabbed a lucky flak jacket can be dropped instantly.

Basically, you should get what you pay for. $200 should not get you a foil to every infantry in the game. Maybe $2000.
And I don't think SMG needs a buff. In comparison to the other free weapons, it's pretty good. I agree that the machinegun is not that useful, though. It's less precise than the SMG and not that much more powerful.
Isn't it well-established that the SMG is way too damn good for a free weapon? After all, when a free weapon can handily take on dudes that cost good money (as synert and eric can demonstrate easily), something's up.

Kind of a shame those attempts to rebalance AOW2 from the ground up never went anywhere. mite v been cool

Is that the right shade?

Do I need more?
