Hello all o/

Alright, so I've said I'll create a thread about my servers once I'll got it.
So, yes, I've got it, and after that today's masterserver problem, we can claim that our servers are working! \o/

What is BaseQ.fr ?
BaseQ.fr is a Fast-FPS team, following QuakeWorld, Quake Live, DooM (through Zdaemon, indirectly Odamex, and now Zandronum), and Shootmania.
We are also trying to help those games being as active as possible, by giving tutorials of how to create servers, CFGs, and giving news about those game's tournaments, both through Social Network pages or our website.

In other words, we try to make the FPS' competition the most enjoyable as possible with the best quality servers we can have. (and those aren't bad at all).

A few words about our presence there...
You may have noticed it, but we have just entered Zandronum's world, and the CFGs aswell are kinda "new". Indeed, some settings are different from other servers which host the same contents.
--> The best exemple would be with ZDuels32, where one is for quick matchs (30 frags / 15 mins / Classic Switchs / NoMedals), and one for more serious opportunities (40 frags, 0mins, Classic Switchs / NoMedals)

Thread goals and "limits"
So, this topic is all about PWAD suggestions, and problem-reporting in our servers.
If you notice something that is "feeling" wrong in the server, you can ask me, and we'll look into the problem. More infos to contact below.

InB4 someone wondering why there is no brutal doom or RGA : I'm not doing Coop / Survival / FFA servers right now. I'm sticking with Duel/CTF/TDM and classic wads only.

Also, all our servers are used with ONLY the latest binary excepted for the <2sec respawn in TDM, until the 2.0 is out, so that we're going to tweak a few things to ensure competitions and to reduce DMFLAGS differences between 2 servers.

Of course, we are open to anything else, new wads, modes, etc.

When you say classic switch you aren't forcing weapon switching right? Be warned, absolutely no one likes it.

I was sure of that kind of answer :)

Well, that's why that topic was created ; to get results that would please most users, some errors must be made. That's what's suggestions are made for :).

And, well, as I (we) mostly played on classic doom, using the zandronum feeling wasn't a really good choice (and, wouldn't respect Doom's gameplay); but if people only play with the new weaponswitch, no problem, let's bring back that!

I'm going to fix it in a few minutes after this post.

If you're going to make priv ctf, make sure you have a clan scrims server as well

Sure!

Usually, when we are saying "private", it's a place only for scrims, or for clan-matchs only. We are not difficult ; and in case of, there is a rcon alias switching from "scrim" to "private" whenever you want.

Feel free to play at anytime! Just ask privately the password, and it's done. Or, if you're someone trusted by the community, we're also giving you an admin access.
However, please keep in mind that we are modifying the password every 2 months (or less, if people are complaining there are too many people with unknown nicks joining the server)

But, for creating another private/scrim (strike the unwilling word), it will be done too after my network shutdown is fixed (it has been offline since this very morning, as we are switching to fiber).

Can you make a duel server with no spectators?
GV has only one, meaning if two pairs of people want to play with no spec, one of them will not get there.

@IdeIDoom (finally got your name!), granted, a new duel server will be created in a few minutes with only 2 players, and 0 spectators.
Should I put 25 fraglimit, or another value for the fraglimit?

@Nati46: no problem ; that's sad to know that cvars cannot be modified through a callvote (afaik), so that I could save some bandwidth... but I'm doing it still.
I'll be using the same settings as the Quickie server.

The callvotes are already enabled by default, so you don't have to worry much.

PS : server done for IdeIdoom. However, for Nati46, as there are too much Duel32c servers atm, I'll try to find a workaround to modify those settings...

For clan scrim servers I'd recommend you only have a join password and not a connect pass.

Hence the fact the private CTF only has a connect password, and that the scrim only has connect password? :)

There is no autoswitch activated by default on the servers.

Actually, the problem is that I want to make a callvot-able cvar making it able to switch this mode on or off. However, I don't think it's possible without recompiling the sources, right?

in this case, what I can do to be able to get both is to use autoswitch "on" on my alt. server. The normal one will be "off".

OR, if we are able to change a server CVAR through the consolecommand ACS script, I could do that way...

Yes you can, and this would probably be the best way to do it (i wouldn't recommend making a new fork just to enable voting for a specific flag).


But most players prefer autoswitch off anyways. It's fucked me over many times.

That's why it will be shown on the "start" map as an addon with the parameter "on/off" .

However, I'll have to understand Zandronum New ACS functions. I hope it won't take so much time...

It's pretty simple. Just do ConsoleCommand("sv_whatevertheautoswitchcvaris 0"). Or 1. Etc. I assume you have a basic knowledge of ACS.

baseq now is literally unplayable, quite shameful considering it was the most decent euro server cluster until this bug popped up
