Titanic Panic

#1

Post by MotorWülf » Mon Sep 02, 2013 12:44 am

Hey folks, I've been working on an episodic megawad for the past few weeks called Titanic Panic.
It's nothing fancy, just an old school style single player wad made for MSPaintDoom, and it's under 700 KB download, so don't expect fancy scripting or models, but I think the maps are pretty fun.

It's my first wad, and I created it in order of the maps, which is kind of lame because the first map may be a bad first impression*, but if you play it to the end (or for a few levels or whatever), please critique the fuck out of it.

*Not to say the early ones are particularly shitty, but there's not much in the way of decoration

Titanic Panic rev 59
Grab MSPD 5.2.3 first if you wanna give this a shot!

Currently, the first episode is done (TITMAP01-TITMAP09, 09 being a secret level accessible through map 3)

cld file of this demo
doom.wad, titanicpanicrev59.pk3, mspdbet53-t.pk3

(Uses doom.wad on accident, but didn't really run into any issues)

Why would you show your map with the Cartoon Doom mod, or whatever it's called? Assuming it's just a map or mapset, I'd like to see it with original Doom textures and stuff...

EDIT: Disregard this I'm an idiot. Will inspect screenies again.

EDIT 2: Okay, my only critique is that the second screenshot looks a little too pipe-y. I think the pipes fit with that waterfall thing, but they shouldn't run along the walls and stuff.

I really like MSPD and just went ahead and made it required for these maps. I'll likely do a vanilla version later though, but right now it'll be missing a lot of small things and the bossfight at map 9 if you play without MSPD.

And yeah, that may be excessive pipes there. It's pretty pipey.

Oh I forgot I make this wad. Only like 1 or 2 things are left to do till I can do 5.3 testing and then I'll update it finally and stop procrastinating; it greatly sorts the db2 listing of things and yadda yadda.

Hey again. I recorded a demo of Map07-Map08 because I noticed I'd personally give some random goon's video of their level a chance before I'd actually download some random goon's level pack.
I added it to the first post, I'll upload the .cld file momentarily as well.

Map07's the good one, 08 is a boss map and isn't as interesting to watch I guess.
Again, feel free to
