Though of course people will vary widely on that game whether they hate it or love it. I liked it when I was young (exploring was really fun), but it's more grind nowadays. I wouldn't bash it until one has tried it, but I'd say there are much better games out there.

Hawken, if you're into mech combat games. I think Mech Warrior Online is f2p as well. Though I haven't tried it out yet.

F2P means you don't have to buy any base software to play the game. Hence, DOOM and Wolf3D are not f2p, but Freedoom counts by definition.

I downloaded battlefield play4free yesterday. I'm somewhat impressed by its low hd space but levelling is already a major pain in the ass. Reminds me of A.V.A. only I have shitty weapons to start with and no shotgun. Also the lack of loadout changes in game is frustrating.

Saw an ad for that today. If the gear isn't way too biased for high level players or specific builds, I'll consider looking into it.

Alien Swarm. It requires Steam but it's free. Pretty sure there are better games out there but if you got nothing else to do, go check it out.

Dead frontier.. while there is a clusterfuck of reasons that'd make free players hugely underpowered compared to registered I still found it fun to play.. AND IT HAS ZOMBIES
