Threads like this are what's keeping the forums alive. The entire Zandro forums only see about 5 posts a day when Decay and Rust aren't around. These guys should be admins. They know how to truly revitalize Doom.

Although people have taken various shots at each other and what not, there have been quite a number of things that were correctly touched on. It might seem like a call out, but you cannot speak about the past without naming key individuals.

Some of the reasons people like to bring up this particular instance in the dark past of Zan every now and then is to not only analyze but use it as a means of public ousting. The majority of players probably do not want to see another occurrence of someone pretending to be the opposite gender. This has nothing to do with any of the transsexual issues or any identity crisis. What essentially happened was a grand scheme of deception, manipulation and often times humiliation. Just as Blitz(IcyMew) admitted to, more or less, he did it for attention, for laughs and to troll (such as the case of Soul). Sure, that time period may be regretted, but regret does not invalidate the past.

In other instances this deception and manipulation causes a lot of unnecessary drama. I'm sure the people involved in the Mere wars can recall the vast amount of instances of drama. This includes provocation between clans, people in power being influenced and being brought into said drama, players being stolen from clans and overall just a nasty set of situations that various people got sick of. It had gotten to the point where even staff was considering doing something about it. A giant headache that thankfully ended when the truth came out. Basically this is what happens when irc and under handed politics are played instead of the game.

Sure, there would not be any problem if this facade was all in jest. However, this wasn't the case of the intentions of Lilith. Admittedly by his own accord, his whole show was just for trolling and the side of affect of breaking up clans apart. SPAK most definitely enjoyed the problems caused solely by the antics of Lilith (not really). Yeah, it may be SPAK, but no one really should have to deal with the poison of a person infiltrating a clan with the purpose of trouble. There probably will not be any apology from Lilith, considering he bragged about the whole thing on irc. I don't have anything personal against Stan. I'm simply stating what occurred.

Teletha really didn't cause as many issues as the previous three. Possibly due to the fact this act was exposued far before any type of 'female' influence would be inflicted on players. Regardless, nothing good has come out of guys pretending to be girls in this community. A lot of problems, drama, headaches, and shitty politics have resulted from such pretender acts. The worst part of it is when everything is going down, there is always a defense force and barrier of protection from players and even staff alike. Effects of this defense force can still be seen even in this topic. You wouldn't expect anyone to defend these guys considering some of the things they caused, but yet, whiteknights gonna white knight.

Unsurprisingly, once the curtain was lowered on the acts, each perpetrator fell off the radar hard. It would have been better for them if they had just been themselves. But unfortunately hindsight is only 20/20.


tl-dr: Pretenders have been proven to cause nothing but trouble and the only way to stop this behavior is to publicly call it out and discourage the behavior when it happens.

ps. People would get a kick out of the trouble REAL girls caused on ZD back in the day.

I figured I'd chime in on this issue.

First, Blitz may have done this in the past but im gonna say hes quite the good Team speak admin, and Im happy to have him on board as TSPG staff. I am going to point out that this sort of thing can and will do damage to a lot of things. In the end of the day, we need to realize that this place is indeed a community, full of humans. Some people actually make friendships here (and its known that some people even meet up IRL for lan parties)

I dont mind if you want to play as the girl in a game, I mean I do that too, but when you are in a community, people need to think about what could happen. I have been through what some staff call "hell" during the time as people would call "The Mere wars." Doing this on purpose ruins the game, ruins friendships and in turn the community gets to cop it as well.

Those who were around when "Wolfygirl" happened would know the story of my old clan DRZ and how it fell. I lost literately my whole clan that day (with the exception from 4 very loyal people). Thats the sort of damage that can occur. I could never re-create that clan today because simply it wont be the same anymore and the name was damaged.

I guess what im trying to say is, this question, decay asked is a pretty valid one. I do apologize if anyone thinks its a flame bait thread but honestly it's one of the issues we experience from time to time. What was the point of doing that?

When dealing with manipulative people, motives are trivial and pointless topics to seek out. Often times they're too convoluted in webs of lies and deceit to have any real substance or form. I would know. I used to be a horribly manipulative person, as some may still attest. However, the net worth of a person isn't measured by their past, but chiefly by their desire to change and the willpower and work they put forth to achieve it. Basically, words are wasted and useless when it comes to people such as myself in reality. It all comes down to actions and time, which tells and shows the true sum of what a person who claims they have changed actually is.

For the record, there was more to it than just laughs, humiliation, etc. Despite what some may think, I actually cared a great deal about people. However, as I mentioned before, it's hard to take such tales at face value because they're often construed in ways that are meant to excuse or defend the one who summons them. Basically, they're half-truths that are just shitty little excuses for people who don't want to take responsibility for the horrible damage that they've done to other people.

And I alone own that. I know who I've acted out towards, and no amount of good meaning or apologies can make up for it. People are usually only sorry they got caught, never for the fact of what they've done.

I can make the excuse that I was young all I want, but does it give any of the people I've fucked over back their grace, humility, and humanity? No.

I own that. But guess what. I have a policy, an open door one. Any person that I've fucked over that wants answers can always find me either on IRC, here, or on Armada's Teamspeak. People want answers? That's what I offer them. I can't make it right, but I can always attempt to make amends. And that's what anyone who's done something like I have should strive to do.

At the end of the day, I'm still regarded by most as pretentious, arrogant prick. But at least I try my best to be honest, and in doing so take responsibility for what I've done.
