Conclusion: Zandronum is slowly dying. (c) Or I just get bored...
I guess you're right,i mean, look at the huge shitstorm this thread caused.Ivan wrote: This is the kind of thread that's too dangerous to let around given the nature of the people here.
You know, you can defend Odamex all you want, but you basically stated that the WDL is Odamex's life support. It is dead and only like less than 10 players play when there is no league going on. By that logic, Zandronum wont be dead for centuries because there are always more than 10 players playing at most any given time. See Monsterovich post for a screenshot as well, and even ZD averages more players than Odamex at any give time.Armitage wrote: It's wrong to use the term dead when it isn't completely inactive.
World Doom League was hosted on Odamex for this summer.
People are still playing and sharing homebrew games for early Atari consoles even today!ReBDooMine wrote: my uncle thought that atari would live forever and look what happened.
Of course people are going to play whatever is new. However saying X is better than Y because more people play X is an awful way to know if a wad is good or bad. It's like saying McDonalds is better than a fine-dining restaurant just because more people eat from McDonalds. It's bad logic. Majority rules is flawed.Torvald wrote: I don't know whether you're conscious to the idea or not, but you're actually agreeing with my original statement: Some people didn't like the mod (which, the whole intention behind it was to change the dynamics), and while I offered them the original version with none of the changes made, people stuck with GVH:NS.
Of course, I'm not going to involve people who don't belong in this convo but if you insist on me bringing him in.Torvald wrote: So once again, your argument is invalid. Citing a player (Ivan) and not naming him is a terrible way to try and convey an argument. It holds no ground what so ever. Nor does "talking to them every day" qualify as justifiable. I talk to Jenova every day and he says Jews are bad - so by your level of standards, it must be true.
When did I say a lot of people didn't like it? The worst I've said is that you guys were cry-babies towards critique. Which is proving to be true even two years after NS died.Torvald wrote: Please don't use your inferiority complex against me as a means to justify anything you say. Most of your post comes off as emotionally subjective, indirectly hinting at past events that have your name all over it. If you didn't like it, that's totally fine I get that, but don't try to make it sound like everyone-else hated it because you did. That puts you right on par with people like this.
That's interesting I can't really see why tor would do that. Especially considering the fact that he stated meepy's classes were 'poorly coded, generic, and imbalanced'.<19:37:33> "Ivan": basically
<19:37:38> "Ivan": torvald created the 2 human classes

you were the one that brought him into this by hinting at him in a clearly passive-aggressive manner.Catastrophe wrote: I'm not going to involve people who don't belong in this convo
There's a difference between offering critique, and straight up bastardizing someone for things they never did.Catastrophe wrote: The worst I've said is that you guys were cry-babies towards critique.
Here.Catastrophe wrote: When did I say a lot of people didn't like it?
I never took credit for making those classes. All I did was edit the decorate and acs. I actually gave full acknowledgement to captain-toenail, the original author of those classes (meepy pasted his name over them) in the in the pk3's and wads.Catastrophe wrote: <19:37:33> "Ivan": basically
