Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
I'm curious about the percentage of the community using OpenGL. Please take your time and answer the poll...

RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
Yes because my framerate falls to 80FPS in Software mode, from 700FPS in OpenGL.
RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
Yeah, on Doom2 map01 with no mods it shows me 400FPS in OpenGL vs 95FPS in Software. It sure as hell doesn't look like 400FPS, but that's your casual ATI on Linux.

RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
No because it's not friends with Windows gamma/resolution.

Always, but if opengl lags on ultra large maps (thx graffy), then software sometimes can work faster.

RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
Yes becouse I use alot of OpenGL only stuff in my maps (Dynamic Lights, 3D Slopes) wich makes everything sexier.

The monitor has some vertical frequency. The framerate cannot be rendered higher than the Vsync.Konda wrote: It sure as hell doesn't look like 400FPS

Yes. Never had a problem with it, except for Zandronum/GZDoom's bad optimization in some areas.

Opengl never lags for me but I prefer the look of software, so I use software unless the mod has models, etc.

RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
Sometimes. It seems to work better (except for the windows resolution thing), but I prefer Software because it feels more like "DooM" to me.
The same thing applies to my preference of WinQuake over GLQuake.

Why is finding the user CP so hard?

I only use OpenGL if I really want to play a mod that has models in it

RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
open gl, cus.
AMD HD 8870 is a kickass gpu, 3D slopes, 3D models (even if limited), Dynamic Lights, True Color, True Free Look.
And software render is a cave age thing, opengl does the same thing as software render, but better, faster and better. (so for me, people who use software render uses computer with wheel mouse and a pentium mmx)
edit:
or you're using an intel gma xD
edit2:
the actual opengl render is outdated on zan, the latest gzdoom render increased =~20 - 30fps compared to zan one

maybe because 50% on that map is not being displayed (ex;dynamic lights 3d slopes), the gpu is really old, or you need a better gpu since your processor can do a faster thing than it...Monsterovich wrote: Always, but if opengl lags on ultra large maps (thx graffy), then software sometimes can work faster.

I always use OpenGl because is more sexy and my view of software mode is the same as imb5115 (the post above me).
RE: Do you use OpenGL in Zandronum?
No. Never. Only on GZDoom.

all the time, i cant stand the distortion in software when looking up or down. and ofc texture filters so its easyer on my eyes.

Same reason for me too. Basically i like the features opengl has.

I use this all the time since it looks nicer and allows models to be used.

I use it whenever I can although it's sad how it works with gamma...
