It's been a very long time since I last touch this map, but I'mma just come in here and drop a post lettin' everyone know that there is progress being made on it. In the mean time, while everybody waits, here's a very lonely pond bench.

Unfortunately i can't get my hands on marsis for now cause of this. I have to restart DB to test changed script which annoying enough. Anyway I'll try to do something with it.

I may as well submit this, considering that I talked with TheShooter7 over balancing and related:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?8i2tp5n2168c22i
It's a fire extinguisher, a melee weapon with slightly more damage than shovel, and its stunning power is between that of the shovel and pool cue. Please place conveniently (read: where those oversized fire extinguisher textures are).

Credits go to the Duke Nukem 3D HRP team for the model (it took effort to make the rips look more cylindrical rather than low-poly).

I am planning to make another map. I know, great news. This time I plan for it to be huge (not like the tiny one i just submitted) so it should be released in about 3 months I'd say. I have a few questions:

1. Can It be science themed like marsis and flow away from the regular WDI theme?
2. Can I use marsis textures if I reload them into my own wad instead of just using marsis as a resource?

Thanks.

1) IMO I think it can be any theme. Just need to be a kind of scary.
2) You can copy some of the textures from Marsis like Capt did. I guess they are going straight to main pack. However if you copy about half or more it will just not make a sence. Marsis textures are about 15 mb, and forcing players to download the same content is just no point at all. In this case, there are some maps which won't make it until july 25th and we could think on additional mappack project now. Awaiting for Theshooter's reaction.

EDIT: oh also, in new map maybe you could make corridors more wide :)
EDIT to Theshooter7: When innocent enters murdhole there also could be that stuff like: "%o made a mistake." "%o didn't pay attention" "%o learned through experience" like in old wdi?

Back then when few players (including me) were suggesting instant kills or any way to block innocents to enter murd's secrets passages and stuff, well, for me, I only saw pros. Now... Once added, I just realised 1 major con but I guess it will disappear over time (once everyone learn about the instant kill line). Murds tend to make the job easier by attracting people into their walls on purpose so they die instantly.

We might see few lazy murds in the upcoming days, :/

I've been noticing this, and indeed, people will just have to learn to stay away from the walls and not attempt to force their way in. In a sense, this forces innocents to play a bit more defensively against agile murds, but this is fine since the stun system has been reworked and as such if someone actually stuns the murd then the innocents can pile all over him and beat him to death.

I could add some form of counter-measure for this. Perhaps if a player dies from entering the murd's hole, it drains half of his current sanity? This way it'll deter murds from letting innocents in, but if they follow him in then they'll still die. I could perhaps also set a minimum limit on the sanity to prevent abuse and whatnot. Any other ideas?

@Peanut: Can't wait for the finished thing. :) If it's done by July 25th, I'll add it into the main pack (+/- a few days if you need).

@Zeberpal/Sicamore: Yeah please don't rip a ton of textures from Marsis. It bloats up the pk3 size and it already has tons of textures for you to use. As it is now, with Sicamore's previous map included (Men's Night Out), I'm going to have to email the /idgames maintainer and convince him to allow WDI to be hosted on there, because the pk3 is over 50mb and /idgames has a rule about mods being no bigger than that (though they seem lenient at times; Dv-II is ~77mb and it's on /idgames with no issues so...)

Also, for the love of God do not include any weapons in your maps without approval from me first. Capt. J3 added the flashlight to his map (Why?), but it relied on Marsis being loaded so now without it, there are no flashlights and I get complaints about the weapon not being there anymore. On top of that, the current weapon set (some tweaking to the Brick and Molotov aside) is already well balanced and tossing extra, unapproved weapons into the mix breaks that balance really, really badly at times.

@Zeberpal: Sure I can add additional messages too, but I cannot use obituaries because a main idea behind WDI was to exclude all obituaries as much as possible (so far, I believe we've eliminated all of them).

I will be releasing another hotfix within the coming days (today, tomorrow, or the next) which will contain some extra fixes for things people have discovered. In particular:

-Rebalancing of the Brick and Molotov (and bug fixes)\
-Fixes for the M1 and some other weapons
-Fixes for the weapon drop bug
-(Hopefully) fixes for the body bug
-Removal of out-of-place obstructions/invisible barriers (which were caused by exploit patching)
-Any additional suggestions

Here is additional suggestion on WDI02: there is a little house near cyberdemon. I noticed that you blocked the path where trees are, however yet we can use our jumpmaze skills to get there without trees :P which makes it even more worse exploit then before (if it was an exploit lol). Yesterday, me and some guy threw a molotov on edge so fire would block murderer. Luckily he had bertholite so he won.

But hey, that house's roof was a party place since forever D:

This was a side-effect of shortening the trees. I'll add some kind of easy-access way to get up there since I never meant to deny access to it.

I am unsure about weapons in my map now.. I added FakeBrick and FakeMolly but during testing, they never showed up, although the sprite and thing properties were displayed as it was supposed to be. :\ Btw Theshooter7, did you receive my map?

Some walls don't kill innocent and I got several murd kills as innocent in them .I am too lazy now but I'll find them again and try to post all the line numbers.

If it happens on WDI10 (Capt. J3's latest map), then it's because he hasn't added the kill lines in. If there are ones on other maps, please let me know, although I was quite thorough in my search by using DB2's thing filters and then finding each door that way. I'm hoping I didn't miss any. :x

I don't really agree with blocking a lot of hardly accessible areas. After all, the murd has to be agile and fast, and a murd that doesn't jump well is a bad murd in my opinion. No need to make those places unaccesible (especially trees, I don't see what's wrong with them).

Also, another main issue that happend this night on the WDI server. Mazter has recently had a flood of tk complains, and as such has threatened to ban ANYONE that will tk. He promised "mass bans" to whoever tk's. I think he doesn't grasp the concept of WDI or why there are tk's in it, and that this issue should be dealt with IMMEDIATELY before he takes any harmful actions. I think his moderating of the WDI server should be suspended until he actually knows what WDI is about. Quote from him "Who the fuck is Theshooter 7?".

I have a small concern. My map strangely drops to like 7fps when the server is full. There are many telefrags cause I only have 8 spawns. Is the lag caused by the piled bodies and the blood that keeps spawning from them? If it is, I would like to make a fix because the map lags more than marsis :O

Some areas like the shed roof of WDI02 were not intended to be blocked, as I already mentioned. My intent with blocking areas off was to block off spots that could be stacked to by players, but are physically impossible to reach otherwise. As for the trees, I reduced their height because some of them were really tall, and if players stacked on top of those, once again, it's a spot the murd cannot possibly reach and thus the game is thrown just because of that.

And really? Who is Mazter? I haven't heard of this guy really. But, *le sigh* no one ever seems to recognize my work put into this. :/ Either way, there is nothing I can do if he has rcon, you'll have to discuss it with Konar6 since he has control over the GV servers.

@Sicamore: the telefrags are possible, but I don't think there is any way to add more player starts. Is there?

I forgot to tell something about the molotov. It's seems fun from what I've seen so far. But 1 thing happened lately. Well, I thought someone was afk so I obviously backstabbed him, but he was only faking it, he was holding a molotov. So when he died, the molotov dropped right on me and I died, xD Do you think I would have enough time to get back next time it happens? Because it seems deadly with a nice throw, :S

I've been working on nerfing the damage and changing how it spreads so that it spreads more evenly and doesn't bunch up against stuff as easily. I could make it take a second or so for the flames to actually light and start doing damage. Perhaps that would help?

Eh, needs more proper roofing.
And yes, that tall section is the clock tower.
