Apparently pokemon can cause emotional distress....

This is probably old news, but I think someone did not get the memo...

http://www.p4rgaming.com/peta-member-tr ... -distress/

This is quite annoying to hear and I would probably flip my shit if my DS got broken in half, and game flushed down the toilet.

Discuss.

I like how it says she also wants money to cover the cost of the broken 3DS.

“Green Leaf” and marijuana. “My daughter may have become a serial killer or worse, an animal abuser, if I had bought her the game,”
rofl
I didn't know you could smoke in Pokemon leaf green!
Apparently playing with imaginary monsters with special attacks [no blood afaik neither in the game nor the shows] can really turn children into cold-blooded murderers, next thing you know cases of people getting killed by people throwing metal balls as big as baseballs will start popping up

Someone must've really flipped their lid, LeafGreen = Marijuana? What kind of comparison is that, you might as well think of fecal matter when you look at an unwrapped chocolate bar. Another thing, If video games did this kind of thing to people, wouldn't everyone here playing zandro be serial killers? I think that the only way to become a violent person from playing FREAKING POKEMON, is to have a serious problem with life and a serious mental disorder.

This is my opinion on this matter.

To be fair it was obvious after:
"Sources also say that Bryant recently filed for divorce after catching her husband hiding in the bathroom on the toilet playing the game. He apparently told her to “fuck off” as he was about to catch a Shiny Mr. Mime."

Yeah I wish I had noticed sooner, but if this was true, it would be soooo stupid. Anyone else agree?

Made up or not, the sheer thought of this is pretty insane lol

EDIT: Reason I say this, even though this is fake, it got me thinking about the problems that I have here in Australia where people blame video games for certain things (mind you, that happens everywhere)

I over heard one day that GTA 5 is the blame for people stealing shit etc. It is stupid so.

Heck, you know what might be next? Associating Doom's Pinky Demons with dogs. Through some bizarre mental snap.

That picture of the broken 3ds has been circulating around Reddit for a while. http://archive.foolz.us/vp/thread/13843283/ On the subject of PETA and pokemon: http://www.geek.com/games/peta-says-pok ... e-1520951/

Please, don't get your jimmies rustled over a hypothetical situations. Yeah, some people will still claim that kid shooting grandma is caused by GTA, and not by leaving the goddamn gun when a elementary school kid can find it, but those opinions are frowned upon by mainstream. There also will be people who believe lizard people from another galaxy rule the Earth, posing as various celebrities. It's not a threat if it's not treated seriously, and PETA is lately not treated seriously even by animal lovers and vegan communities, as people found out they're massively euthanizing healthy dogs and cats.

Well, dogs at W3D disturbed me even if I am not a dog person and the sprites were cartoonish.

There appears to be no correlation or causation for video games increasing violent crimes.

NOTE: These graphs are not meant to imply that video games lead to a decrease in violent crime, but showcase that video games do not appear to raise the number of violent crimes.

EDIT: vvvv Yes, I agree, there are still ongoing studies and I would not be surprised if this is the case, though there are certainly a lot more factors than video games that have lead to the decrease of violent crime rates.

The games might in fact be the reason of decrease of violence nowadays. A fair amount of crimes are caused somewhat unintentionally because of accumulation of large amounts of stress, and games tend to be good at stress relief. Less stress, less crime.

Or maybe all potential crime-comitters are now too busy playing games than planning out actual crimes.

Or maybe it's not related at all and times just change.

I dunno, just random theories here.

Considering most of PETA is this bat shit crazy for real, I'm not surprised in the slightest that people thought it was the genuine thing.
