What's your internet connection like?
I'd always considered 800kb/s download speed to be decent enough, but then people start saying how they get 108MB/s and now we're hopefully getting better internet because we're so behind the times.
What's your download speed and reliability? Come to think of it my internet keeps cutting out and I need to put a big slab of ice in a lunchbox under the router to stop it overheating, this is pretty shit no?

sounds like you need a new router, but on topic i get about 6mb/s download on a good day.

Damnit. So jealous. Your country has the 2nd fastest internet speed in the world (behind Japan).rico345 wrote: Average : 70~80 Mbps, Best is 150 Mbps.

I just upgraded from DSL to cable. I got 2.5mbps before. Now I get 20mbps.

Holy shit, 150Mbps? That does mean 150MB/s download speed right? I'm not sure if there's a differenceÆnima wrote:Damnit. So jealous. Your country has the 2nd fastest internet speed in the world (behind Japan).rico345 wrote: Average : 70~80 Mbps, Best is 150 Mbps.

Also yeah I'm on a DSL right now, put my postcode on the internet and the best I can get here is (up to) 76Mb, plenty good enough :D

Nope, South Korea is much more faster than Japan.Ænima wrote:

For instances, If someone made server (any kind of multiplayer game), they were pings almost 50~100, but In Korea, most of them less than 10.
When I made server for True Combat Elite about 3~4 years ago, always ping was 1~5.
South Korea is most powerful country of the IT industry.
Every houses has Power-Comm(also me), average speed is higher than 100Mbps all time.
And it will be much more faster soon.
RE: What's your internet connection like?
Well one of the shittiest Italian ISP: Telecom.
I dunno the speed but I make people rage because of my lag.
Wireless, by the way.

RE: What's your internet connection like?

I searched some information about 1Gbps.
In Seoul(Capital city of Korea) People already using it.
They said "We can download 3 of HD movies in 3 seconds."
We called this "Wide-Lan", and it will be service soon.

And this is mine :

Note : I'm living quite far distances of Seoul and I'm using router.
You can see Signal is week but still fast.

RE: What's your internet connection like?
I am getting 100 megabits, but my old VoIP router is bottlenecking it to 30 + DHCP reset each 2 hours resulting in connection breaks and lagouts. Well, at least the ISP wants only 16€ monthly and allows me to connect directly without router.

RE: What's your internet connection like?
15MB up 0.75 mb down
I'm on ADSL2+ and Im going to have VDSL only in a few weeks at least.
I dont really need such high speeds, but what I am looking for is the ping advantage that VDSL can offer (with combination of fibre + Rate adaptive/test2 firmware [if you are using vdsl, which is usually 20mb+, ask your isp for these two, they are usually for free and they will allow you to ping 2-3 to nearby servers if you don't already]).
My routes to most euro servers are good but my ping starts from around 15-25ms because of the ADSL, which means I will be able to pretty much ping like a euro once I manage to eliminate these limiattions.
Also guys internet speeds hardly matter when it comes to ping, as long as you got over 0.5mb up and about 1mb down it alone will have no relevance to your ping, It's the type of connection (VDSL vs adsl) and routing to the server that affect ping the most. Hell I ping better than most people I know who have 100mb speeds (with a different provider) because their routing is worse and they do not have the optimizations.
Routing is probably the most important thing, since as you may (or may not) know, data passes between global communications cable which spread around the world and also go underwater (not wirelessly as some may believe), therefore the physical distance between you and the server assuming it is of good quality is not the only criteria which affects ping, the routing and number of router hops it has to do have almost the same effect on ping (Which explains why many people ping bad to servers in russia/greece even when they are close to them.)
Once mankind manages to find a way to transfer data wirelessly across long distances reliably and as fast as light, we would see people with the best connections having half the ping they used to (e.g I would get under 30ms to England in such a scenario, when nowadays the best connections in the world allow for just under twice that ping for such a distance [~2500 mi])

*Timed Out
*Too many missed packets ingame
*Connection interrupted for 10 minutes without timing out
*Lagfest and 6000+ ping
*-21000 Ping somehow
*7mb download that never happens and luck if gets 1-2
*Randomly connection with ISP is stopped/Delayed because ISP is a bastard

Well, It´s weird to see people with 150MBPs, if I got one of this, I would need alot of money to pay this D:
