I dunno I think the whole touchpad thing is pretty neat, on top of being able to play your PS4 games on the go with PS Vita.

The console has a purple stripe.

FUCKIN' SOLD!!

In all seriousness, the whole thing is turning into a bit of a curbstomp at this point. That said, I'm holding off on getting a PS4 for 3 reasons; One is the inevitable hardware failures that will doubtlessly plague both systems in their early phase; another is the fact that SR4, GTA5 and GT6 are all PS3 games, and lastly is the inevitably shit launch lineup.

Xbox 360 = PowerPC
PS3 = Cell

Xbox One = x86_64
PS4 = x86_64

PowerPC != x86_64
Cell != x86_64
While absolutely correct, I'm pretty certain EVERY SINGLE DUDEBRAH (being 98% of all gamers) doesn't give a sh#%!

Though the lowering of the price was a marketing strategy (IMO) vs Microsoft. As you can see, microsoft is losing because of that shitty reveal.
PLUS more info about how bad it is: http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license
Sony knew they would win this time because Xbox One was focused mostly on media and kinect, less so on games. That was PS3's case.

Microsoft on sharing Xbox One games with friends.
There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.

Fucking Christ, did these people ever play games when they were growing up, were they ever even fucking human beings

This is like 100% business bullshit, and the only somewhat good thing I can even see coming out of this is maybe better and more reliable internet connections in the US due to Xbone's always on-line internet connection crap

As it turns out, nearly all executives and company officers (in America) went to Ivy League schools or have an employment history in similar positions. Some even come from rival companies, who fired them for misconduct, and are placed in a similar or sometimes higher positions. As a general rule, they have little to no experience of common pass times (other than huge sporting events, concerts, and anything else that is far too expensive for most people) other than what they used to do as a child. And seeing as how your average executive is around 35 to 45, you can figure out the rest. Top executives are even older most of the time, by the way.

I would take PS4 over Xbox One anyday. Wii U is also a tempting deal though, specially considering the games that are coming out later this year and next year.

Here's what Gez has to say from the Doomworld forums:

Here's another brilliant statement from this shit-heel, "If you're backwards compatible, you're really backwards". This is also a statement said by no gamer ever.

"Thus, it would not make sense to invest time and resources into creating technology to allow gamers to play older games on the Xbox One, he said."
Technically, it's true. If the architecture changes enough, supporting the older software becomes complicated; since you end up needing either to emulate the old hardware (and for the immediately previous generation, you aren't going to get good emulation performances) or to include the old hardware alongside the new (and that makes the device all the more expensive).
MS's greed and arrogance will not only comeback to bite them in the ass in sales, it's going to take off an entire butt-cheek.
Most definitely not. They'll lose maybe 1% of their fanbase, at most. Meanwhile, the gaming market keeps expanding, meaning that all the new people for whom the XBO will be the first console will more than compensate for the few grumpy members of the vocal minority who did buy the Xbox and Xbox 360 but actually, really won't buy the Xbox One.

Several retailers have reported the Xbox One got record-breaking number of preorders. It will be a massive commercial success for Microsoft, and it will comfort them to go even further in this direction.
Seriously, I have absolutely zero faith in humanity now.

It's not really surprising. The mainstream is just a brainless crowd which goes after whatever is advertised enough. The fact that the XBox One actively watches and records you and is connected to the Internet at any given time makes it blindingly obvious it's going to be spying on people. And yet even this doesn't seem enough to dent its market share.

It's sad really. And whoever finds Microsoft's claims of Kinect not being a tool of espionage even marginally assuring is both naive and ignorant.

Gez is absolutely correct on this. Boycotting almost never has a significant impact on sales of new tech in the gaming industry anyway. The brainless shit mass will inevitably purchase this device under popular opinion. The best you can hope for against Microsoft is that they fuck up with their ip to drive enough players to the other consoles. Maybe they'll learn their lesson then. (I have minimal hope in that.)

Oh yes, and as to the spying:

You all realize now that the truly sad part in all of this...

...is that dudebro-tier gamers (ie 98% of the console market) won't find out about the used games block before they've tried pawning some at local stores.

I feel as if Microsoft at this point is only digging its own hole... deeper and deeper mainly because of their policies. However, I don't feel as if the XboX One will be dead though when uneducated purchasers are considered within the situation and with how many there are. I think the first few weeks/months of sales may show this... As long as there is profit, Microsoft will be happy (although Windows 8 was a definite tragedy in the OS Front). We'll just have to see...
