Weapon nametags

Back in Skulltag, remember how if you scrolled through weapons with the mouse-wheel (or whatever you had weapprev and weapnext binded to), it would tell you the name of the weapon you switched to at the bottom of the screen? I would like to use that in Zandronum, is that possible?
I couldn't think of anything clever to put here.
