Doom Trading Card Game concept
They have a Doom board game but no card game. At the least it would be a unique CCG with two different ways to play - The main game would be "Solitaire", where one or more "Marine" Players, who deploy Marine squads with UAC military technology, face(s) a "Hell" deck full of familiar Doom baddies and themed abilities, either controlled by a player or having movements determined by chance (coin flips and die rolls). The other game would be Deathmatch, where all players play as either Marines or Hell with fixed deck counts and the goal is to "kill" a set amount of Humans/Demons to claim Prize cards, a la Pokemon. The Marines could have 4 different resources that fuel their abilities, which are Bullets, Shells, Rockets, and Cells. Likewise the Demons could use 4 different kinds of "magic"; Fire, Lightning, Flesh, and Souls.
Ok yeah it's pretty much gonna be a cross between Pokemon and Magic with Doom characters :/. But I could use that medium to introduce some new concepts to the Doom universe, particularly to adapt to Hell's new resources and fulfill the obligatory expansions.

collect all the ultimus cards
RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
How about we make a simulator for this, then recreate the simulator in a Skulltag WAD? Make sure to rip music from the Pokemon TCG video game for the GameBoy. The music in that game was so beautiful, you could spend your entire life looking for music that gives you the same kind of feeling, and never find it. YES.

The best handeld card game in my opinion is "card fighters: SNK v Capcom" so much better than pokemon TCG, and great music too.Drayko wrote: How about we make a simulator for this, then recreate the simulator in a Skulltag WAD? RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
Well, this could be interesting if it was made fashion and if we made the pics of doom 3 weaps and monsters. This could also be called Zandrocards or something and contain things from zandronum (just a suggestion) and toor should have a percentage of the income :D
For expansions we could include things like AoDM (All out Death Match, the deathmatch mode with the AoW weaps, credits to dusk(lol), it could also contain something like a board game version with a 2d view with room management and goals on each map (kinda like Hero Quest(really old) in doom format(referrence to DB2...), the cards contain the information of HP and Attack power ect.
but the idea is that this could actually make loads of money for torr and the creator if we boosted the reputation of it, meh bro might be able to tell more about this subject, he got a mercantile education and might be able to figure something out. This will require loads of money to even start it, got ideas how to get?
Additional idea for expansions(contains above stuff):
All out Deathmatch: contains AoW weaps for a more owerpowered feel of gameplay, also the armors will be strategic as you can use cards to choose what armor the marine should have: someone sends in a plasma gunner, the other player with an art. cannon guy use "laser resistance card" on the art. cannon dude and it will redude the damage from the gauss gun a lot and the gauss gunner is weak aginst explosives because of the laser armor he have by deafault. Quite strategic, huh?
Board style game(Hero Quest): A board with a prefix(should contain quite some prefixes for the maps(maybe original doom 1 maps?(doom 2 maps would be good for this purpose, hard to explain))) the cards contain the health and atack stats and such and themonsters are on the map and dont need summoning. The players also are at the map at start but only one marine for each player. What each room contains is hidden from the players but the mastermind or whatever got a folder(or something) with all the information about the map, he also controlls the monsters. I might be able to write original rules from the rule manual from Hero Quest to get all info, there should maybe be added weapon range or effectiveness range(shotgun: for each tile away on map damage is reduces by 3).
Ghouls VS Humans TLMS: explains itself, just a ripoff of the gvh game, but with some tweaks, like the icefiend will just be inattackable by others, and it can only stay invisible for 3 turns, some tweaks like that to make it more board gameish, it also need balancing on that front too.
All for now, if i get more ideas ill add then, but every doom monster in history will be a possibility to include in expansions, it would also be nice if it was possible just to purchase monsters to place on the tiles for the Hero Quest idea, kids might break them(my mom got weary angry then me and my bro accidently broke an original Hero Quest monster :\)
If you guys feel like you need to post an idea, check out doomseeker/IDe and look at the servers and just go on and tell how we can expand all this with the wads on the servers :D
TIME TO MAKE LOADS OF MONEY!

If it looks attractive enough small kids will annoy their parrents till they get a pack of cards, belive me, it would work in denmark :\ (people are stupid and cannot figure out telling their kids right and wrong and just shout at them if they do something srong, this fact proves that this could maybe make money in denmark) and japanese, just to get pro at it and win gold in something more :\Catastrophe wrote: I don't know who in their right mind would buy them, though.

RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
I'm not particularly planning on making it a physical card game but rather a digital TCG at first. If it grows in popularity and more people play it I'll make the physical cards along with expansions for both formats assuming iD Software would let me use the Doom universe for a card game that would entail the use of money in production and distribution. The Base game on computer could be free while in physical format a Starter Kit could be around $10-15 USD (or higher depending on production cost), and boosters would be $2-4 USD. In the digital game it'll be like a 3D form of the Gameboy Pokemon TCG; you get your first deck depending on which side you choose and have to beat different missions to earn booster packs. Expansion WADs would just add more cards (sames ones as the regular expasions) but cost a dollar or 2. Assuming the digital form of this game is on the Doom engine, it would take radical alterations to how the engine works and AI and everything to even work, especially if multiplayer is to be launched ingame like Pokemon, but it would look more authentic than using, say the Source engine.Lollipop wrote: Well, this could be interesting if it was made fashion and if we made the pics of doom 3 weaps and monsters. Also ideas for card types:
The Metatypes:
Marines are the UAC's familiar defense guys out to defend against the Demons. All cards have either a Marine or Demon metatype, and decks may only consist of one metatype.
Units:
Units are the cards with attacks and health points, and come in either Marine or Demon flavors. One way to win a competitive game is to wipe out all your opponent's Units.
Unit Upgrades:
A planned card type for expansions; put these on top of the appropriate Unit and that Unit will take on the abilities of the Upgrade in addition to its old abilities, and its health is now that of the Upgrade. If a Unit is killed, both cards are discarded. These will be rare and many Units will not have Upgrades.
Actions:
Actions are one shot cards that are often discarded after use. These work like Trainers in Pokemon or non-continuous Spells in Yu-Gi-Oh - Play them, do what the card says, then discard. Actions may have a Neutral metatype that allows use in all decks.
Supporter:
Specialized non-combat units that cannot attack or be attacked. They often do things like heal/buff your Units or draw cards.
Locations:
These represent different locations, can be neutral, and often have specific buff/debuff effects. Only one Location may be in play at a time; when a new location is played the old one is discarded.
Ammo:
The quintessential card type of this game, Ammo is how attacks are paid for; to pay for attacks the appropriate amount of ammo is revealed from the hand, then discarded, straight out of Dominion. Basic ammo does not have a Neutral metatype but Special Ammo does.
Haven't come up with the full rules yet (or even any cards) but there's something for me to work on making rules with.
RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
I got a great idea to add on to this: the back side of the cards should be the zandro logo, just say'in

What is the Zandronum logo? Is it just the green letters that say Zandronum? I think we need a new logo...Lollipop wrote: I got a great idea to add on to this: the back side of the cards should be the zandro logo, just say'in
RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
Do you seriously think Zandronum is willing to be represented by cardboard rectangles
Personally I find the idea of successfully pitching a Zandronum card game to a manufacturer hilarious
"Hey Mr. Corporate Dude, I have this really awesome idea: We take this really old game, take the name of this multiplayer source port and make a card game out of it, we shall call it ZANDROCARDZ"
Yeah if anything, it's best left to an digital online thing like Aqua Kitty suggested

RE: Doom Trading Card Game concept
The rules I have in my head at the moment is pretty much the offspring produced if Pokemon and YuGiOh fucked and somehow got a small trace of Dominion and Netrunner DNA, in short a Frankengame :p. The decks must have at least 60 cards, only 4 copies of cards except Basic ammo, and you can have up to 10 Units or Supporters in play, and there is no "Active/Benched dude" system so any Unit may attack. Support guys don't have to pay ammo and their abilities can be used before attacking, however both Support abilities and Attacks are limited to one of each per turn, and the turn ends when a Unit attacks. When the deck runs out of cards the discard pile is shuffled to become the new deck (to keep ammo flowing).
At the beginning of the game, each player shuffles their deck and draws 7 cards. If no Units are in hand, said player reveals said hand, then reshuffles and draws again. Players may also take a Mulligan for an undesired hand, but this is only allowed once and for Mulligan the player is penalized one card in his starting hand (draw 6 instead of 7). Each player then plays as many Units as desired, then places as many Prizes as desired (in official rules that's 10 prizes for 2 players). In official rules a coin flip (I should make a coin with Doomguy as heads and a Lost Soul as tails) determines who goes first, but in casual play any method may be chosen, such as rock-paper-scissors, or whoever's oldest/youngest.
Turns are as follows:
Begin: Draw a card, activate any effects that are activated in this phase.
Devise: Play any cards and activate one Support ability.
Strike: Choose an attack that you have enough ammo to pay for, reveal said ammo, and that attack's effects take place.
Mop: Discard ammo from attacking, shuffle your hand into your deck and draw another 7 cards.
This is just for the competitive mode though. Players in Solitaire have the same basic turn structure but the automated opponent in Solitaire follows different rules that I'll have to come up with.

my ideas do kind of fit in on this otherwise than the Hero Quest rip off :3
if this really makes loads of money at some point it will feel so awesome to have been one of those thinking more or less ideas out for it, just saying *exited* :3

I mgiht be stupid, but I'm thinking out a way for this to be possible. I'm not sure if ACS and DECORATE will be able to fulfill the requirements or if a workaround for any problems are possible.
I have not started making anything yet and I will not give any promise at all, but I am CONSIDERING it. Don't expect that this will be a project untill I SAY SO OFFICIALLY, ok?
I hope that, if I decide to do it, that I can pull it off, if not, ill ask for help.
Please tell me what you think.

It'd be neat if there were card award oppurtunities available, say for entering/winning tourny or map contest. Pretty farfetched, but it'd be nice if such accolades were tradeable XD
but card battling/game would be too much work to figure out
