I'm not referring to WDI, I'm talking more towards his question of if using skype to watch others is bannable.
Which it isn't really, unless it's real obvious like in a duel. Not much can be done for ghosting.

anywho back on-topic:
I mean I play on wdi on Ts with like 6 others most of the time, I'm pretty sure it isnt bannable unless ghosting is involved
Edit: 6 MAN WDI INNOCENT RAID; murderer needs berth

This topic and everything about it is lame.

That said.. It's a pretty gray area. Most people who use voip just happen to help someone else from time to time. It can't be helped, really.
Some of course tend to abuse that ability to the fullest (ghosting), and in that aspect they pretty much ruin the game for everyone else.

Whether or not that calls for a ban is up to the one running the server.

And WDI has players fighting players. How is that not competitive?

Oddly enough no one replied to you, but no, it's not allowed. And usually people in the server will change the map during the game to 'kick' the murderer out for allowing it, so to speak.

Also, I think skype should only be bannable for ghosting and if people are stupid enough to get caught doing it. It doesn't just go for WDI, it goes for other game modes as well that are team based or duel. But I do know that it happens quite often in WDI.

If the server admin/mod wants to, they can ban you for anything they want. And if they think you're doing something dumb or something that may give you an advantage over everyone else, they have every right to ban you.

Edit: When I say team based games, I'm talking about someone spectating and watching the other team and telling team mates what they're doing, who's incoming, ect. Not to be confused with players using legit team work on Teamspeak or Skype.

As stated many times here. It is up to the server admin if they want to ban people for using voice chat programs or not (mainly ghosting or giving someone an advantage over someone)

Let it be known that clans do use voice chat to co-ordinate their team if they are in a team based game (only helping those in their team, nothing more) which is legal.

So in short, if your doing something dumb and helping out a player by using voice chat to gain advantage then you may find yourself banned from a few places.

Hmm...big fuss over something that is really easy to solve with votekicking/votebanning. I've said this 10000000 times about WDI, the original idea was to make it where players would kill each other and save the murderer some work. Paranoia and stupidity are part of the whole experience. While I don't think Firewolf or I ever really conceived of players being on a team, it works to your benefit.....so why not? The murderer is going to turn on you anyway, although the usage of skype or an outside program to do that really violates the essence of what the whole thing was about.

I would like to know the reasoning of the server admins if it's not just an anti-trolling rule.

Hmm...
Well, it's obviously up to the individual servers to decide, but I'd say yes under limited circumstances. Having an accomplice makes for some more interesting variety, so long as it is not over done. Firewolf could fix this by granting perks to players that kill players who have killed other innocents.

As long as it's only used as an alternative to ingame text chat and not as a ghosting method (spectator to non-spectator, team to team) then there's nothing really bad or wrong with it. If someone bans you for just talking to some turd on your team with Skype or TS, then they're just a bad administrator and aren't worth your net traffic. Text chat is clumsy and interrupts gameplay (without a bunch of pre-written chat binds all over the keyboard) and I prefer to use voice whenever possible. It's 2012, git with the times.

Doom doesn't count because Doom is timeless.

If you are ghosting the murder and ruining his turn, well by common sense other players will be really annoyed if they figure this out.
If you ghost early game its almost guaranteed you've ruined the murder turn since late game you'll probably end getting killed like everyone else.

Teaming with the murder on the other hand is just unbearable. at least now those team killers can't get into walls like the old days.
Offtopic : Teaming and ghosting hoping you'll get a perfect as a murder doesn't mean you earned it cock bastard!
