The thing that should be.
The thing that should be.
I think devs should give us some official story why st>zand transition happend. Currently its like putting happy mask "Everything is fine, peace to everyone" but seriously, community isn't likely to buy it. Even that Carnage didn't thank st devs for work that they did [for him] nor put any redirect link to zand site on old st site shows how things are horribly wrong. You guys should tell us your story of it, how everything was behind the scenes, every single thing that didn't go correctly and your opinions on it. Making it clear is important because more and more of urban legends and fatasy stories on st development and Carnage himself are flooding chat at zand servers.

IT'S A CARNSPIRACY

RE: The thing that should be.
Ok.
Let me start off by saying I'm going to try to remain as neutral as possible about this, but I am slightly biased so I apologize if I start to show it.
Carn has been working on an indie FPS for some time that he plans to sell (and actually has started to sell) but the problem was that he was the only person who had full access to the actual site, and at times we needed his help but he was caught up working on the game. At times the site ran into issues and Carn was somewhat flexible; he would ask us how to fix the problems and sometimes that was that. But it wasn't always easy to get in touch with him, sometimes it would take days to respond and even when we did get in touch we couldn't always fix the problem without actually having someone with experience look at it himself.
Finally it got to the point where something needed to happen, so we came to Torr. We eventually decided that Carn must give someone access by a certain date or we would fork. Moreover, every single staff member had to be on board with this (and was). This was very time consuming and took a while, but we eventually got the support or "do whatever you want I'll follow" from every single staff member. A thread went up for Carn to see, and Carn was willing to give Metal access to the site; but he never did. She would talk to him about it and he would either be busy or put it off, and she eventually felt like she was becoming a burden to him by having to ask him so much. The administration was becoming frustrated after feeling like we were being blown off, so we had to repeat this exact same process again. We had to set a new deadline, get all the staff on board, rinse and repeat. But at that point tempers were boiling; the original deadline was never even met. People became tired of waiting and waiting for nothing to happen, so we came to a full staff decision it was time to fork. Metal confronted Carn it was time and he was not happy, he told her that he was busy with his game and wasn't blowing us off. He then popped into the mod channel in an attempt to have us stay, and we were beginning to work something out. But tempers were flaring, things were said that upset Carn, and he stormed out.
He obviously wasn't pleased with us, so he refused to redirect his site to our forums and I honestly can't blame him. His entire staff just walked out on him. But honestly, things are so much better now.

RE: The thing that should be.
It was a dark and stormy night... AND THEN SUDDENLY ZANDRONUM.
RE: The thing that should be.
I really don't think anyone is pretending nothing bad happened. Stuff happened. But it's long past time to be over it. Dwelling on what happened won't help anything.
RE: The thing that should be.
Oh just the usual fragmentation in source port politics.

I think devs should give us some official story about Igor. What is that? A bot used by multiple admins?
And about that drama with Carnevil, only really bad thing in it is no more accessible Skulltag forum.

You'll probably get some typical response akin to "IGOR IS IGOR HURR"Circunei Z wrote: I think devs should give us some official story about Igor. What is that? A bot used by multiple admins?

Don't question Igor. He's doing a fantastic job and I'm not sure if he would like to reveal personal information about himself.Circunei Z wrote: I think devs should give us some official story about Igor. What is that? A bot used by multiple admins?

He's from another dimension. He works in his own test chamber for the benefit of zandronumkind.Circunei Z wrote: I think devs should give us some official story about Igor. What is that? A bot used by multiple admins?
You now have the official story. Go spread it to all the unenlightened!
