Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
Oi all, I'm back with *gasp* ANOTHER PROBLEM!!1
Anywho, lemme tall you what's going down.
A little while ago, I tried to make a deathmatch server. I waited a loooooooong time for people to join my server, and after a while, I noticed that someone tried to join, but didn't connect at all. I decided to join the server to see what was going on. And lo and behold, it was my old nemesis of online Doom problems...
"Please make sure you are using the exact same WAD(s) as the server, and try again."
So, what I did was, I went into every possible folder where DoomSeeker would search for downloaded WADs, including an overlooked ".doomseeker" folder that I never saw before, and pasted all of my .wads and .pk3s into each folder. And yet, I STILL get the same error, and this is with ANY custom file I make the server with.
What do I do?
And mind you I have an official doom2.wad, which I was using as the IWAD for the server.
Bump for help.

RE: That Gosh Darn Missing WADs Error!
It's when the WADs aren't in the same dir as Skulltag binary. This problem is just for host... People were just quitting seeing no one's there or something.
When I connect to own server using newest IDE I have no problems even when wads are where I want them to :) But it still happens when I use "join" from console. I don't know about Doomseeker...

Shared keys will now be in Zandro! Thanks devs for their work, and users for the support!

I use Doomseeker and never had this problem. I just bump into some geniuses that host a mod I have but add another extension to it (Example: mod is "dopefish.pk3" and the host has "dopefish.pk3.txt"

Hi. Yes I see you have a problem. No I don't know what to do about it. What does it say when you type "wads" in the console?

RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
It says the number of PWADs is zero. Does that help?Qent wrote: Hi. Yes I see you have a problem. No I don't know what to do about it. What does it say when you type "wads" in the console?
RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
Is it the same for the client and the server? If the client isn't loading any WADs when it's supposed to then it would fail authentication.

RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
Well, every time I make a server, it DOES say that it fails to authenticate the level.Qent wrote: Is it the same for the client and the server? If the client isn't loading any WADs when it's supposed to then it would fail authentication.
Also, sorry if I'm sounding like an idiot that doesn't know anything about this, I don't know jack shit about programming or how Zandronum's programmed.
EDIT: I just tried out the client, and loading other WADs works just fine, so the server just has the error.

RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
What PWADs (if any) is the server loading?

If you mean what PWADs I'm adding to the server, then the error occurs no matter what PWAD or .pk3 I'm using, whether it's Brutal Doom or the original skulltag pk3s (for the original stock DM and Invasion maps).Qent wrote: What PWADs (if any) is the server loading?

RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
well, for right now, just rename your skins folder to notskins, then see if the lump authentication arsecrap comes up
RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
So you get the error even with no PWADs on the server?PortalFreak996 wrote: If you mean what PWADs I'm adding to the server, then the error occurs no matter what PWAD or .pk3 I'm using, whether it's Brutal Doom or the original skulltag pk3s (for the original stock DM and Invasion maps).
Anything. Start by emptying your skins folder entirely (move them to a safe place) to confirm whether the problem is there. AFAIK the announcer/ folder is loaded exactly the same as the skins/ folder, so do the same for that.PortalFreak996 wrote:Ijon Tichy wrote: check your skins/ folder, the problem is likely there

Nope, still comes up.
No, I don't get the error without PWADs.Qent wrote:So you get the error even with no PWADs on the server?PortalFreak996 wrote: If you mean what PWADs I'm adding to the server, then the error occurs no matter what PWAD or .pk3 I'm using, whether it's Brutal Doom or the original skulltag pk3s (for the original stock DM and Invasion maps).

Are you using Zandronum or Skulltag?

RE: Make sure you have the same WADs as the server
So just trying to pinpoint the problem here: your server loads the PWAD fine (when you type "wads" into the server it shows what you want), and it displays the PWAD under "Wads" in Doomseeker, but when you click to join from Doomseeker, Doomseeker loads a client without the PWAD at all.
