Yo! Thanks for checking out Samsara.
When a downloaded .pk3 is corrupted in some way, Zandronum will often refuse to load it at all, resulting in vanilla Doom gameplay.
Please try redownloading it to make sure it downloaded all the way. If the problem persists, please hit me up with some contact info so I can send the file to you manually.

Thanks for the help! For some reason the Samsara Zandronum file you linked was coming up a few megs short, so I got it from moddb and it worked fine! It could also be the fact that I'm a teacher overseas in Africa and they don't exactly have the best network.

Much like another mentioned having unlimited ammo for the pistol-archetype is a slight turn-off, since I can slowly whittle most enemies down. However I understand the focus is MP (not SP) and having limited pistol ammo would prove to be a detriment to MP. You also said in play-testing people just Pac-Man'd all the ammo and left everyone else stranded. Maybe waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the pipeline there might be more SP-focused features, but ultimately I can really appreciate the fact that I can mix these characters together. Now, I'll have to look for some MP maps/mods. I've also seen a "survive the monster waves" type co-op mod with a gradually expanding map and a zombie-wave co-op mode too. I'll have to go digging for those.

There is a cvar that addresses this in 0.31--soon, you'll be able to limit your pistol ammo as you please.

Don't know if you are aware but there's some problem with invisibility. I keep getting this error about pickupfail invisibility in the last level of stronghold (playing as ranger). Plus you can get stuck in teleports if timefreeze is active. (No idea if that's samsara's fault though)

Well, at this point Term's about done adding new heroes. P849's the last one from him.

From a design standpoint of why term's not adding him:
1. He has more weapons than slots, and to fit him best with Doom 2, we'd probably have to scrap very famous Quake 2 weapons like say, the Railgun.
2. He wasn't really that imaginative a hero. The only weapon from him that's actually unique by now is the Railgun.
3. The BFG 10K is pretty hard to implement in Zandronum.
4. He's basically Doomguy.

In Brutal Doom's defense (and not Sergeant "go suffocate yourself"'s defense) I play it for everything else aside from the gore. There's new weapons (the AR in place of the pistol that actually remains useful at just about any stage) like the flame-cannon and rocket launcher; it features re-loading and a secondary-fire mode for the PR; it features location-based damage for where enemies are hit; it gives limited ally-support in the captured marines (which for somebody like me who can only browse the Internet is useful), and it modifies the way enemies behave and act (making them tougher and smarter). Also, it's a little late but gratz on the Caco! I actually found an old Youtube comment from me when you were just releasing trailer videos (and when S.O was the most recent). It's so awesome to see it come so far. Samsara is so popular that it has its own Stronghold spin-off, and now we have Naraka. This thing EASILY has the potential to become THE next big mod.

It's all a shining testament to what passion and patience can yield. They're so hard to combine, yet you and your cadre have succeeded. You just don't shit these characters out, but take your time on their purpose and faithfullness.

And those fucking MSP comics you drew had me laughing so hard my boss was wondering what the fuck happened to me.

With Samsara + Ketchup I receive the following:

For ketchup, please load the version specifically made for Samsara: http://static.[bad site]/wads/ketchu ... atest3.pk3
Alternatively, if you use the 0.31 beta, you'll have no need for ketchup at all with the samsara_cl_bloodyhell console command: http://static.[bad site]/wads/samsara-v0.31-beta.pk3

The HUDs are unfortunately out of date.
I don't know who keeps adding those add-ons to the Samsara modDB page, but they don't work.

Thanks Sir, I was under the impression only you could approve add ons to ModDB. That's pretty stupid that other people can put them on there.

Strangely, that ketchup that you linked me too also doesn't work. I get this:

I guess for now I'll just run with the .31 beta, thank you for the link and I apologize for any stupid questions. I'm loving the mod so far! Awesome change of pace, looking forward to trying a good MP game!

This means they were loaded in the wrong order, as Zombieman2 and ZorchSparkle are Samsara-defined classes. It should work if Samsara loads first and then Ketchup.

Spotted a bug. When in Wolf Movement, the player canny swim up, with only gravity pushing him down.

1000th post... ...yay...
