ZCinema - demo launcher!

(cred to infurnus for the awesome icon!)
ZCinema is a C++/Qt application whose purpose is to launch demo (.cld) files with minimum stress to the user. You just need to provide where your Zandronum exe is and this little thing will determine with what Zandronum version and what WADs to launch the demo with, and then does exactly that for you. Essentially launching demos becomes a "just double-click it" thing with this working in the background. If you have Doomseeker then it can even look up WAD paths from that!

ZCinema can launch demos for Zandronum 1.1 and newer. Older demos unfortunately do not contain the required meta-data for proper launching. (i.e. wad list and release code)

This is a great tool, it even shows who recorded it! Hopefully IDE/DS integrate this into it in the future

Yeah, you don't.

That's a nice tool, also an easier way to just read demo. I'm looking for more demo features.

Now this is something I've been looking for, a better way to watch demos. I also hope that more little applications for Zandronum come out, since this and QZRcon are very nice.

Version 1.0 has now been released, see here for downloads, drawing ZCinema (hopefully) out of beta stage.

Highlights of this release are:
  • It is now (finally) capable of launching demos for Zandronum 1.3 and newer
  • The exe has been split into two, zcinema.exe, the actual launcher and zcinema-config.exe, the configuration tool. Configuration in general is much more robust than before.
  • Is capable of looking up the Doomseeker ini for WAD paths and using that in case it cannot find some WAD. This behavior can be disabled if someone doesn't like it. This means that most of the time you don't even need to mess with the WAD paths in the configuration either.
Special thanks to Blzut3 and Zalewa for their support, and to WaTaKiD for helping with the testing!

Well shoot.. I guess those running Windows XP or older (yea I know, bad idea) are SOL.. Getting the old "not a vaild Win32 application" message while trying to run either the config, or the main exe.

Well, the source is available, so you should be able to compile it yourself (or get someone with a compatible compiler to do it for you).

Actually, it may work in windows 98 using KernelEX if ported to xp...
Well, if it's compiled over visual studio, gimme the code and I can give it a try :)
