Something popped back into my head

I forgot about this for a while, I just remembered it and finally decided to poke about it, so anyways, let's get on with it. To the gods who are the Zandronum development team, why didn't you just continue with Skulltag's development? (I read somewhere that it's the same Skulldev team that's working on Zandronum.) Why not just pickup where Brad Carney (CarnEvil) left off?

Political problems, I would guess. Carnevil stopped caring much about his own port since... 2010? He also had some tension with other developers and staff members at the time, which eventually led to the split that was known as skulltag.com and skulltag.net (skulltag.com remained as Carn's domain while skulltag.net belonged to the other admins, with the latter becoming pretty much the main site).
A good share of key people wanted the port to detract from Carnevil's idle hands. He was working on his own game, and stopped working on Skulltag for years now, so it wasn't a big surprise that people wanted to get rid of the apparent dead weight. There was also a desire to open the port's source, to further improve its moddability, among other reasons. And thus, Zandronum eventually solved both of these problems.
That's about all that I know. I'm sure Infurnus and/or Metal know more details on this matter.

It wasn't about getting rid of Carn, it never was. Carn hasn't done anything for ST for a while even before the split, and that's fine. The issue was the site ran into some problems, and only he could fix them. But he was rarely around. He was reluctant to give up access to the site to people. There were negotiations, but because of how long things were taking, and how imminent things needed fixing, everyone was on edge. So it all fell through and both sides went their own ways.
This is virtually Skulltag, without all of the stolen content.

Yea there was a bit of trust issues between Carn and the staff at the time, especially when the site breaks and he was the only one who could fix it.
The main thing is, this IS Skulltag, except with a new name, and more features. If you guys need skulltag compatibility just download the skulltag data pk3's. They still work.
