How did Zandronum get its name?

When making the source port shift from skulltag, why did you guys name it "Zandronum", and are there any other names that were thrown around?
I'm genuinely interested in this development cycle of Zandronum and the story following it.

It was funny trying to remember the name of it for the first few days "Zandonominer"?

For tl;dr of the name threads: it is Z + a combination of Infernum and Andromeda, because a compromise had to be made on the name by Torr so that selecting a name didn't take the rest of eternity.

The downside is that we now have 3 Doom ports that can be abbreviated ZD: ZDoom, ZDaemon, and ZanDronum (D capitalized for emphasis), which can be confusing, or at least awkward.

Yeah I thought this, I usually say ZD, Zandro and Zdoom, that's about as abbreviated as they're gonna get.

And that is why I abbreviate zandronum as ZA, zan, or zand, to avoid the confusion.

I just say Zandro. It rolls off the tongue pretty quickly.

Well, none the less, even if it is currently still just a re-skin of skulltag, I still like all the love that has gone into making it it's own thing. Remember the days of deathmatch with Doom95? To think where we've come now. Here's to a few more years of doom shenanigans!

Pretty much Zandro covers it. Zan's the shortest it's gonna get verbally (one syllable).
As for abbreviations I though ZN (ZaNdroNum) was common. Oh well.

Yay, Doom95!
I think this is the first time I've ever seen "ZN" though.

if zandronum wants a logo abbrev, I think "z&" has a great look and feel. Though, finding the ampersand can be a tids cumbersome

The ampersand represents the letters ET, as in the latin word for "and", so Z&ro# would be Zetropound.

We've been over this a few times.... it was a compromise that to my taste, isn't that bad. Oke, it's not great but come on, it could be worse... like ZDaemon...

More like Zetronullam.
Edit:
Actually it could be either:
Zetronullam
Zetromiscellaneum
Zacronullam
Zacromiscellaneum
Zatqueronullam
Zatqueromiscellaneum
Zquodronullam
Zquodromiscellaneum
Zqueronullam
Zqueromiscellaneum
Zadqueronullam
Zadqueromiscellaneum
Znecnonronullam
Znecnonromiscellaneum
Zautemronullam
Zautemromiscellaneum
or with full and without the hash:
Zetronum
Zacronum
Zatqueronum
Zquodronum
Zqueronum
Zadqueronum
Znecnonronum
Zautemronum
But then, Latin can be a tricky language sometimes.

Centuries ago, the ampersand (&) was a letter in the English alphabet. It is supposed to look like an E and a T joined together. Using that letter was an English spelling of the Latin word et. The letter gradually fell into disuse, so now it is only used to spell et, which most people mispronounce "and" when it is spelled with the & symbol.
We also had a letter that was A and E joined together, and U and V were a single letter, which looked like V but was called U, which is why the double-U (W) looks like a double V.
