also why is this a huge deal? i don't give a crap whether mm8bdm'ers flood into zandroland (more people to play oneshot :V) as long as they aren't idiots
Server: [Oblacek.sh.cvut.cz] #S09 | CHILLAX | SUR
I guess I acted a bit too idiotic

I use GNU/Linux too! to be more exactly Debian Squeeze, but I have to resort to Windoze 7 to play in MM8BDM servers because I can't find the source code for skulltag 0.98e-alpha-r3216.

I have the 64bit binary of build 3216 -> http://sickedwick.net/k6/037a9e07c2fb39 ... 64.tar.bz2

or you can get the source from the repository. The downside is that I don't know which exact changeset is build 3216, it is one of those commited on May 1st, I'd guess the latest -> https://bitbucket.org/Torr_Samaho/zandr ... 5bb9ff700a

Well if you acted like an idiot you'd probably deserve that kick.

Given how many homies have been fucking over Chillax maps as of late, you really should've seen that coming. :|

If only they'd join the COOPERATIVE server first. Learn the traps. Understand just blindly rushing ahead isn't the one and only tactic on this 'god given earth'.

Use Zandronum's master server. If you want to be far from stupidity, play single-player, forever alone.

Switching master server is non-sense.

I have never tried MM8BDM before, I have always thought about it, and all these newbs make me want to try it even less. I have never even heard of this Youtube guy and all the sudden I see 100 people playing MM because of a single youtube video. I'm just glad most aren't smart enough to know how to get doom and doom2.wad. It really makes me mad that people JUST found out what DOOM is because of a youtube video almost 20 years after the game has came out.

I sure hope it doesn't catch on, we don't need a noob invasion on any doom ports because of a video 20 years after the game comes out. Atleast it is still running on Skulltag AND not using any good iwad.

Why do so many in the DooM community act so entitled? I'm seeing it all over the place and it's sickening. We were all noobs once.

If anything is going to kill this community, it's all the self-entitled "we don't need no noobs here!" types, not the newbies themselves. Your cliquishness is no better than theirs, even if you do spell better.

You don't just tell the new kids to piss off. You tell them what they're doing wrong and how to change it. You give them reasons to be better. Sure, some of them don't change, (that's where they go from newbie to n00b,) but others grow up.

I wonder how many of today's respected members wouldn't even be around if they'd encountered this "shut out the nooooobs!!!" attitude in their earlier, less matured days? Not as many, I'm sure.

Think about how you discovered DooM. Why's it any better?

Also, if I see one more case of the game's age being brought up as an argument, I may vomit. What has that got to do with anything? NES Mega Man is even older than DooM, you know...

Are you serious?
You're seriously getting turned off just because it's popular now?
Why does it matter if 100 or even just one person joined because of a YouTube video?

EDIT: NeuralStunner took every single word I wanted to say but was too hesitant to.

What NeuralStunner said.

Such vomit should land in the face of those who thinks are pro and thinks that may judge others by their newbieness/noobness.

Come on, the way you discover Doom doesn't matter. It's not because Doom was a boom in game's history that people MUST like Doom or discover it in a particular way. And befooooore someone tells something, I play this for at least 15-16 years.

Those that have survived today have encountered many of the people that are "self-entitled". You simply don't care about them and prove them wrong if you are SO willing to stay and get better, if you don't however, you just piss off. That's the way it SHOULD BE. Otherwise it's a waste of everyone's time.
