What screen resolution do you use?
RE: What screen resolution do you use?
1280x1024 (fullscreen) resolution on Samsung SyncMaster 931BF at 75Hz, in Open GL renderer.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
1600 x 900
I had to switch to a new monitor recently because my old one was causing some problems. The resolution I was using with the old one was 1920 x 1080. It sucks that I have to use a lower res now, but it's best if I use a stable monitor.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
320x200 is best resolution!
But in seriousness, I use either 1920x1080 and 1280x720 depending on if I am on the couch or not.
Can't see the tiny text from a distance.
And since I got myself a GTX 660 OC2, I no longer have to play intensive games in 1280x720 or 1600x900

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
I play on the lowest resolution the engine offers. Windows this is 320x200, but in Linux its 640x480.
RE: What screen resolution do you use?
Why that?
On 320x200 the game will look worse than Doom 95/CE by ID Software

1920x1080, laptop monitor. I like the mobility.
I always try running stuff at the native resolution when fullscreen - when I can't, or when I'm on windowed I usually go for 1366x760 or the nearest 16:9 resolution available.

Heretic - Silverspring CTF! 45 maps, 2-way, one-flag ctf compatible.
Questionable quality, but they look decent - rework on the way.
UAC: Close Quarters Combat CTF! 27 maps, one-flag ctf compatible.
Work in Progress - Thorough testing pending.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
I've been playing Doom since 1994, anything OpenGL/super hi-res literally does not look like Doom to me.De-M-oN wrote: Why that?

Worse is subjective ;)
I somehow aim better with a smaller resolution and lower settings. Put me in an OpenGL environment with uncapped and it's a mess. 20 years of software is hard to undo!
The highest resolution I've ever used was 800x600 (or 960x600 for fullscreen in competitive duel/CTF leagues).
Interestingly, all the mods I've worked on in my life are actually centered around in ACS on 800x600 because it was the max resolution I'd use. I'm even working on HUD element development in zandronum that supports 320x200 for the scoreboard among other things as well.
Despite what I've said, I fully support seeing OpenGL in Doom and have no problem with people using it. The only time I'm against OpenGL is when competitive play is concerned because of how easy it is to make everything full bright, and look/aim up/down fully (whereas software can't). Though I do like removing features that are limiting (I'd never support visplane overflows being added into Doom again), the vanilla renderer is my favorite thing about Doom.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
The thing is, even Doom Collectors Edition by ID Software offers 640x480 resolution. So I dont understand 320x200 even in that case xD
And the next problem is if you play fullscreen the interpolation of TFT monitor lies on it as well.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
Don't worry I'm a special breed of player :P There's pretty much almost no one like me except maybe a handful of people (if they still play). Maybe on Doomworld I'd find some people who do the same.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
Let's count everything I have...
Okay, desktop... That would be CRT and LCD dual setup...
CRT can go as high as 1680x1050 while retaining 85 Hz awesomeness, but I am just using 1280x960 for most of the time.
The LCD is IPS panel of size 22'' and native resolution 1680x1050.
Next thing... laptops.
My ultra portable long battery SSD powered one has 12'' 1280x800 panel.
Aaaand my favourite mobile developement station AKA ThinkPad T400 has 14'' 1440x900 IPS awesomeness.
Well, that's about it.
16:10 is the best aspect ratio!

agreed :)16:10 is the best aspect ratio!
and 85 hz are bad at a CRT. Still causes headache after a long time. 100hz is necessary for a CRT.
RE: What screen resolution do you use?
Weird, I rarely ever get headaches from using this CRT here (1280x960 doesn't work with 100 Hz unfortunately, but 1280x1024 could go with 90 Hz... but meh)De-M-oN wrote: and 85 hz are bad at a CRT. Still causes headache after a long time. 100hz is necessary for a CRT.
What is more strange though, I can get headache after using most of LCD monitors after like... 10 minutes? I blame PWM.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
Some people like the feel of Vanilla Doom and its quirks, including how it appeared back in '94. I can agree with that, it's a refreshing feeling to go back to the roots now and then instead of getting caught up in all the model, dlight and particle spam of today.De-M-oN wrote: The thing is, even Doom Collectors Edition by ID Software offers 640x480 resolution. Spoiler: Rant (Open)Yeah, though, on my card at least, 640x400 and 320x200 both run as scaled 1280x800. Ain't blurry at all.

RE: What screen resolution do you use?
I use 800x600 and windowed to that resolution. Ive found its better for accuracy this way. You do have to get use to it to be benefitical though. Also when your playing a game which heavily relys on reaction time having a monitor with 1-2ms delay is very helpful.
