What is your taste of music?

Hopefully this arises some discussion.

But, what is your favorite taste of music? Who's your favorite artists/writers/bands/etc?

Mine is rock and punk. My favorite bands are Asking Alexandria, Pierce The Veil (what you would consider emo music) and I also like some Metalcore/Deathcore songs by Bring Me The Horizon, Chelsea Grin, etc.

I'm really fine with a lot of music, but my favorite genre would have to be punk, especially pop punk from the past decade.

Paramore ( of Riot! days in particular ), My Chemical Romance, Mayday Parade, etc. are a few of the bands that come to mind, though usually I tend to like a particular song from a band and not many others, even if they're in the same genre.

Mainstreams i hear: Hard-Trance, Goa-Trance, Dubstep (not Skrillex just because the unecessary hype) and Neurofunk.

Undergrounds: Darkstep, Skullstep, Speedcore, Extratone, Dark Psytrance, Dark Electro (Aggrotech), anything inside Metal (although, not my preference since i'm more on electronic).

Artists i most hear: Infected Mushroom, Sirius Isness, Electro Sun, Paul Oakenfold, Ramirez, Warp Brothers, Foreign Beggars, Noisia, State Of Mind, Black Sun Empire, Current Value, Axis & Trank, Mantis, Rekoil, Bratkilla, Komprex, Frazzbass, Dark Nebula, Hallucinogenic Horses, Xenomorph, Hocico, Suicide Commando, Tactical Sekt, Psyclon Nine, Front 242, God Module, Eisenfunk, Front Line Assembly and Celldweller.

Genres: Metal, Heavy Metal, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, Electronicore, Rock, Hard Rock, and Electro Swing

Bands: Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Memphis May Fire, Of Mice And Men, Avenged Sevenfold, Crown The Empire, Woe Is Me, Trivium, The Word Alive, Queen, Attack Attack, Caravan Palace (More of a group), and We Came As Romans.

Genres: Most of what Faby said, save the Swing, Post-Hardcore and Electronicore, I'm also quite a VGM addict.

Bands: Breaking Point, Crush 40, Drowning Pool, Kings X, I know I'm forgetting a couple. As what Arctangent said, I tend to like one song from a band, but not the rest for some reason.

Artists: Simon Viklund, Koji Kondo, and some more I can't name off the top of my head.

I listen to Rap, R&B, and Reggae. I'll throw in some VGM as well as some are quite good. Oh, and cannot forget about rap instrumentals. Love beats with passion.

Artists I mostly listen to: Tupac, B.I.G, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Eminem, Tech N9ne, Brotha Lynch, Irv da Phenom, Bone Thugs, Bob Marley, Sizzla, Daweh Congo, Fat Tone, Gentleman, Busy Signal, Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, Snow da Product.... I got more but this is just the main I listen to. I dont listen to mainstream music like that.

My taste is utter shit, then my playlist is 900 tracks long and generally doesn't have one artist name repeating more than 3-4 times.
The few exceptions being SepticFlesh (whopping 18), Acylum (10), X-Ray Dog (9), In Slaughter Natives (8), Corvus Corax (6), Dvar (6), E Nomine (6), and Darkwood (5).

Whatever new that matches the pattern goes into the list and probably stays there.
I personally view my music preferences as "anything that sounds good and doesn't eat brain while doing something else and putting on background"
