What makes players come to play new wad?
What makes players come to play new wad?
Hello!
I am wondering what are the ways to get players in game? I am looking for players feedback, so I hosted it on Best Ever but since it's new name that doesn't say anything (except that it's WIP), I kinda struggle finding players.
I am just curious to know what are the steps I could do to make it more known? I am not looking forward to be top 1 but rather just enough feedback to decide what I want to do with this wad in future.

From what I have experienced with my wad online, you just have to see if players join and see if they have interest in it. Yesterday was surprising for me seeing 10 players playing my wad online and actually enjoy it.
I think this might answer your question.

RE: What makes players come to play new wad?
Few players did join but they came one by one and left like in 30 min. None said anything about it so I cant be sure what was the reason for leaving but I believe one being that it's not quite fun with 2 players only.
What happened is that I joined myself to see if player count > 0 makes any difference and what happened is that I basically played for hours alone.
It's a new project so even if it were total crap there's no way for players to knowingly ignore it because only 2 or 3 people got to see it today but rest of have no idea what's gonna happen until they join it first.
Edit: You're wad is nice but youtube link is broken so I had to manually copy.

Get some help from some friends to play with until the server fills up, and/or say something in #zandronum on IRC about wanting help playtesting your new mod. Maybe mention that it needs x amount of players to play properly. Some people might not want to join a server with only one person in it for a variety of reasons, but a server with 3 or 4 people can make the difference between a player joining or passing for another.

Posting your WIP on the forums for some feedback can also be really helpful.
Also, what Decay said.

Don't quote me on this, but I think mod is more popular if it is unbalanced, or at least if it's terribly balanced.

Being unbalanced may be a good reason, ZDaemon had a gold age of only playing coopbuild with supergun2, and servers always was 32 full just to people enter there and hold fire button for goddamn 40 minutes killing monsters perfectly aligned in the editor mapgrid just to utilize the entire space of the room.

Force your friends slaves to test it with you and idle in the server until more people show up
