Your opinion on iOS 7?

#1

Yeah. This beast just came out. Some people would prefer the old iOS, some would stick to this one. I personally haven't installed it on my iPhone 4S yet, and I'd like to see some opinions before I do.

My opinion? Well, as far as I can tell from news and screenshots, the new notification system is something Apple should have implemented long ago, along with the extended options to choose from in the Camera app. I also really like the new Multitasking bar. I heard that the system becomes far faster on devices newer than the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, but it leaves us a question: does it do this without draining the battery more?
The first thing you're gonna notice is the renewed design. I don't wanna say it doesn't look good, because it's quite decent, but getting rid of the theme (and the slide-to-unlock bar) that became a well working signature of Apple products seems to be a bad idea. This minimalistic, new flat design, in my opinion, wants to look like Android a little bit, and just doesn't fit the nature and "solidness" of Apple products. Also, the stock app icons becoming flat makes the home screen look weird filled with old-styled icons. So in conclusion, I wouldn't say it's bad, but I'll definitely wait until a fix for bugs I've heard about, and a good untethered jailbreak comes out for it. Apple should have instead lifted the restrictions on the iPhone, like having to convert a video prior to load it onto and play on the device, or not being able to exchange files over Bluetooth - or manage your files other than media at all.

So this is my opinion, which is really just a look at the new system without installing it. I may be wrong - but let's just hear your opinions first.

It sucks balls. I'm glad I didn't upgrade yet, and I probably won't until Apple forces me to ... in which case, I will finally have a good reason to jailbreak my iPhone.

I've been using it for a day and quite like almost all the changes, except for one glaring issue that I'm really hoping gets fixed soon: in the music player, the Artists view no longer goes from list of artists -> list of selected artist's albums -> list of selected album's songs. The album selection step was for some reason just eliminated entirely, so if you have multiple albums by the same artist, you have to scroll through hundreds of songs to get to the album you want to hear. Or you can use the Albums view and have to scroll through hundreds of albums. I can't even imagine what the thought process behind it was. I can only guess that all the beta testers always used the Search function and never bothered with the browser at all.

It looks clean and beautiful. But then again its iOS, a stupid OS for a stupid phone for people who can't handle a true smart phone.
Iphones are old people phones, so simple even a damn 4 year old and 80 year old can use it. Plus the new OS looks like its trying to copy Windows phone 8 with its simple clean look, but it works far better on windows side.
I think it looks cool, but it is still so simple it hurts.

As of now, I haven't installed iOS 7 on my iPhone 4. Waiting for a jailbreak. I, in fact, have used it on my friends iPhone 4S and I like it. I do enjoy the fact of the new look, Control Center is really handy, Multitasking is cool, just about everything. The new Spotlight search can get annoying sometimes. Yet, I highly doubt that users even use Spotlight. My iPhone 4 is jailbroken on iOS 6.1.3 tethered and I have nearly all of the jailbreak tweaks that iOS 7 has. I'm not sure if I should upgrade to the newest update, thus it will prevent me from downgrading to get the jailbreak back. Pretty hard decision for me. I might as well wait.

I've heard that iOS 7 runs slow on the iPhone 4's as they aren't powerful enough to run it smoothly. Best sticking with 6.1.*, but if it's a 4S, it should be fine.

I personally won't be using it in a very long time.
Also, just a note to all, after Jailbreaking your phone, trying to install iOS 7 or iOS 6 (Reinstall or Upgrade) your phone will fail to activate.
Had this problem while trying to upgrade a iPhone 3G with iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6.1.3, looked it up on the Internet and apparently it was the fact it was jailbroken previously.

I have a 32GB third-gen iPod Touch, received as a gift when they were new (wouldn't spend own money on one, personally). Final iOS on it has been 5.1.1, which is fast and stable. I'm so glad I'm not getting caught in the mess that is recent iOS versions, especially what Essel said about system navigation changes. I'm personally not a fan of the pastel fisher-price look that iOS 7 has taken, either.

As for phones, I've got a Samsung Galaxy Ace II X. Pretty happy with it, would take over an iPhone.
