It wasn't elegant and it didn't work out much because (Due to prior experience.) when I used to prune down some clan threads, I would get responses from anyone BUT the actual people of the clan some of the time. That said, after I started getting a lot of that from all clan threads on ST, I really stopped bothering with "cleaning up".Qent wrote:Seconded. Although it just occurred to me, hypothetically if that did happen, how would moderators go about pruning dead clan threads? Not that the old method of spamming "And are YOU alive?" in every thread was particularly elegant either....Decay wrote: The only compromise solution/suggestion I can come up with is a clan "section" but the topics get 1 post; the first post. This acts as the desired "status update" for clans (ie letting people know who's in, purpose, where to be reached, etc), but also prevents threads filled with pointless "good lucks", dumb pictures, flames/trolling/drama whatever. Beyond, I can't really think of a legit reason for the admins to allow to continue the garbage that went on at ST.
All in all, Decay actually summed it up pretty well. I'm not a big fan of 50 pages worth of good lucks and one cumulative page of actual information, clan-related updates, scrim results, etc. etc. one page and one post should suffice people who are interested in Clan XYZ, if they're recruiting, and whatever else people really want to know about said clan.
This was basically Skulltag's clan section summed up. For one, I still believe that people, and moderators, who really don't have much to do within the (future) competitive side of Zandronum still shouldn't be messing around with things that are...'sensitive' I guess? I'd rather let someone like Ruin or TheToxicAvenger, who consistently play competitively, to handle things like 'clan-related issues'. Of course, I'm only saying this should Zandronum basically pick up with the way that Skulltag had their clan section set up with a boatload of 'good lucks' and other things clan-related.esselfortium wrote: There's nothing wrong with clans, but the forum for them on ST was rarely by any definition "competitive" or otherwise remotely meaningful or worthwhile. Announcing "I have a new clan!" and getting a page or two of "Good luck lol!" responses is utterly pointless.
I just wanted to point out that saying this and then expecting people to just take it and leave isn't going to happen...well, at least not with everyone. Not everyone is going to be satisfied with what they're given.Devon wrote:No, because it helps clan leaders show information regarding their rosters, contact and recruitment details, plus additional information, about their clans. No offense meant here, but it is easier to understand my (and many others') points of view if you too were on the competitive scene. Please admins, it's no big deal just to add a clan section to the forums, and it'll shut a lot of us up.esselfortium wrote: I still don't really understand. You want it because you do, so it should therefore exist?
