  • What happened to the Skulltag forum?
Due to differences between the staff members and the Skulltag.com webmaster, the Skulltag project was forked by Torr Samaho into Zandronum. We apologize that the forum was closed, but that decision was out of our hands so please bear with us.

  • What the hell is Zandronum?
While it is in early stages as work continues on version 1.0, formerly known as SkullTag 98e, Zandronum seeks to reduce some of the bulk of SkullTag and serve as a clean slate both for the port as well as the community.
Zandronum is a direct continuation of SkullTag, being used as a rebirth for the port and to rebuild the community. We're making some considerable renovations to the project itself such as the dismissal of skulltag_data.pk3 (Which means that the stock maps, weapons, skins, resources, etc will no longer be present) amongst staff reforms and more community involvement.

  • Why aren't my old Skulltag wads working?!? Missing Skulltag textures and sprites?!
The skulltag_data.pk3 resources do not auto-load with Zandronum. It is no longer directly supported and we can not encourage its further use. We were aware of the consequences of removing it and ultimately, we felt that we could no longer directly support it since a large amount of the content used within has been uncredited, ripped or otherwise incorrectly repurposed. It would have taken a very long time to get into contact with those responsible for creating the content over the decade of SkullTag's existence to keep the auto-loading mechanism of the wad.
This also allows Shareware IWADs to be supported again.

How to fix this: Currently, you can load skulltag_data.pk3 and skulltag_actors.pk3 alongside your mod and it will function identically the same as Skulltag would play it. If a server is hosting it, place skulltag_data.pk3 within the folder defined in your favorite server browser for modifications. Skulltag_actors.pk3 comes with Zandronum. Skulltag_data.pk3 info can be found in this thread or in the last version of Skulltag.

  • Will this port be kept up to date with ZDoom's updates as opposed to being like 1000 revisions or so that Skulltag generally was behind?
As soon as 1.0 receives a stabilized release, that is the plan. But we can't get that release going without testers, so register on the tracker and check the development builds and Zandronum testing subforums!
Note: If you were registered on skulltag.net, you do not need to re-register on the tracker

  • Is THAT really the name?
Torr got tired of the weeks-long discussions. He picked this as an end-all. It also guarantees relevant results on Google. Please deal with it.

  • Why does the main site look like it's straight out of the 90's?
It's a placeholder. We got a guy working on it.

  • Where are the forum rules?
Right here. They also appear when you register on the forum.
  • How do I use Zandronum with (Doomseeker/IDE/insert favorite browser here)?
If you were previously using Doomseeker for Skulltag, you will need to update.

If you're using Internet Doom Explorer, you can continue to use that. In Options->Directories->Programs under the 'Skulltag Client/Server' option, point that to your zandronum.exe. Additionally, please bear in mind that the master will be migrating soon so we will notify all users when it moves. It's recommended that you place skulltag_data.pk3 in the download folder defined within Directories->Wads, at least until we offer official packages for backwards compatibility within Skulltag.

  • So what happens now?
We plan to get everyone else migrated, then everything goes on as usual. Check out the Community Events section of this forum for usual gatherings.
