Summary | 0004516: "George Exley" announcer doesn't work if "Skulltag 98a" announcer in same folder | announcers can't have same sound filenames
Description | I usually never play with an announcer, but while testing some newer fixes for CTF, I noticed that this particular announcer doesn't work at all if the Skulltag 98a announcer is in the same folder. This doesn't happen with any other announcer being in the same folder. What gives? When selected in the menu, the Skulltag 98a announcer for some reason takes precedence over it.

Needless to say, it seems to have been broken like that since forever. Speaking of which, what is the "default" announcer entry supposed to do? From looking at it some more, turns out the announcers have the same filenames for the sounds, which is probably what's causing the Exley one to be overwritten. So I suppose it's not really a bug. The problem with the current announcer system is that you have to know of every potential announcer out there and make sure that your sound names don't match them, which is not ideal in the long run in case more users wish to create announcers. If possible, Zandronum should create aliases for duplicate sounds in separate announcers so they can co-exist without overwriting each other. |
